Do you agree with MDI DQ?

Yeah, it’s a very weird notion for them to push, implying that hunting for technicalities in a competition is something only the US would do, ignoring the fact that it has nothing to do with nationality at that level, lol.

I never knew they had their own realms, that’s pretty neat. So do they have to create new and essentially either copy character or get new max gear from a vendor like on the PTR?

Also yes I agree with the DQ.

Not to mention they’re all using the Shadowlands parasol toy to float down to the platform in Rookery.

He was able to just walk to Valdrakken and make the potions in like 2 seconds. Very stupid of Blizzard.

I wish this would just open up a new conversation about tank threat though. I’m so so sick of having the elite mob or boss turn and whack me just because I pressed Touch of the Magi without mirror images up.

Yikes. Your xenophobia is showing.

It’s weird how Blizzard hasn’t banned Echo for any of the dozens of completely bugged strategies they’ve used. They were snapping the entire Plaguefall dungeon with a bugged interaction with misdirect and Blizz didn’t invalidate, but they DQ a team because of a potion that does 0.0001% of his dungeon dps.

It doesn’t have any threat multiplier outside of the normal one that tanks get. It’s a pretty common consumable for aoe capped tanks to use right now on live servers in dungeons with big first pulls - DFC, Cinderbrew, Motherlode, etc.

It doesn’t do very much damage, shares a cooldown with stat potion, and is only used because it does a small pulsing aoe that helps the tank get threat.

Tank threat is a huge problem right now even ignoring the fact that Demon Hunter is bugged and generating less threat than it should be. Playing a mage through 14s/15s right now and it’s crazy the amount of times the elite mob or the boss turns and whacks me even after Invis or Mirror are already used. Warrior dps and ret traditionally have this problem as well.

This isn’t a bug or an exploit though. The potion is work as intended and doing a very small amount of pulsing damage.

Echo snapped an entire dungeon worth of monsters because they bugged out Misdirect to have infinite range and duration and weren’t disqualified for it.

Then IDK. Maybe this is just an overreaction/overcorrection because of the ECHO PF fiasco. How that was not DQ worthy and this is is puzzling.

I think that is what upsets a lot of people and leads to these threads. Regardless of who you root for, or what level you play, we should all be looking for consistency from Blizzard when it comes to enforcing rules.

I have to agree with MDI even existing in the first place, which I don’t… WoW is not a good e-sport and has damaged the game in the process, but that is besides the point.

They never should of messed with Dairy Queen!!!

Just going over it this seems like a heavy punishment for one of the most benign “clever use of game mechanics” cases ever. Using a worse battle potion from a previous expansion to more easily tag mobs because target caps and such can cause issues is already in the realm of the team in question kinda being a bit weaker for it due to one less tempered potion over the course of the dungeon. To disqualify a team for what sounds like a safety strat instead of some prime degenercy like abusing snapping or some rexxtroy level bug is insanity to me. Especially considering how blizzard esports are already besmirched in the public eye for their effects on various blizzard games over the years.

To me, this seems like a creative idea anyone could have used if they had thought of it. Not OP, because it counts as combat potion and replaces what other tanks were using. I see no problem here.

Worst part is that another team asked Blizz about the potions before the comp started and Blizz said no. Then Blizzard didn’t put out a note to the other teams.

I respectfully disagree here.

The majority of video game players will see “gear” as equipment or apparel.

If we do a quick Google search of “What is gear in reference to games?”

We receive the following:

With computer games, gear describes the clothing or weapons a user’s character wears in a game . For example, as you play a game, you may find equipable items with better stats that allow you to survive longer or give you special abilities.

Now, let’s talk about the real world and people who play sports or even people in the military.

In sports, if I say “Grab your gear” - most of the time this is a reference to helmets, pads, uniforms, etc.

In the military, if I told my soldiers, “Pick up your gear and move it to the barracks” - most of the time, this meant body armor, weapons, helmets, etc.

Now you can say, “Well, players and soldiers could be carrying water bottles or drinks and it goes with gear” - sure. But deep down, I believe we all know that if someone says, “Did you get any new gear?” - they’re not talking about the flasks and potions you bought or found.

So -technically-, no. When you say something like, technically speaking, it’s generally understood that potions are not specifically gear and is more of a tag-along item that gets incorporated sometimes in the phrasing of gear.

Competitive play, especially for money, should be specific.
The Blizzard Admin that stated a rule that referenced “only in Dornogal” does not exist.

If consumables were primarily considered part of gear, then the majority/every player would agree with that opinion and we probably wouldn’t be here discussing it.
But when you have separate rules, one stating gear, and then referencing consumables specifically below that - it makes the word “gear” ambiguous and left to interpretation by those enforcing the rule.

Not to mention all that - there is a rule in section 6 that states players can use professions.
Additional rules states MDI vendors /Tournament Realm vendors - which were used to purchase materials for the professions and used to craft the potions.

But also, I do believe Dorki mentioned on stream that his initial batch of potions were obtained from his previous tournament realm characters.

Blizzard did not handle this professionally, in my opinion.

Premeditated takedown?
