Looking at the logs today for 75% in mythic raiding, Disc has now moved ahead by a decent amount and its all SS. My view is they will nerf SS and only thats because the disc tool kit isn’t op in this xpac, just that spell is.
Thoughts?

Maybe. But I look at holy palllys similarly. Their top heals tend to be from one button/skill: holy shock. Not like that’s new in the last couple years at this point. But just pressing holy shock gives them healing from that holy shock, shock barrier, glimmer, and all of that cleaved into beacon. A pally in my raid always has those 4 items in his top 5 healing abilities. The last being light of dawn which is a just a melee smart heal that u might as well press from your holy shock generating holy power. SS gets placed under one bar in the meter, instead of 4 bars like shock synergies, but it’s still almost all from 1 button press on multiple raid frames
yeah but holy pallies arent doing so good atm wheras disc is but also SS will scale with stam as we gear up more.
I DO feel that SS is discs version of glimmer atm and i would think blizz learnt there lesson from last xpac
Holy pallies are doing very good. Maybe not in world first races but outside of that, they are just as prevalent.
in mythic, 75% i think they were second last. I closed the screen down and too lazy to open it back up
Honestly, there’s no good way to nerf it without killing the talent. It needs a full rework, honestly. Spirit shell was not something to bring back. But I don’t think they’ll recognize that.
If they nerf it I would probably bring another shaman instead…
Oh wait they will nerf shaman too…
hm…I think what they will nerf is decreasing the cap from 60% to 50%.
The rework that I can think of right now.
wow…that’s a 200IQ solution right there.
Blizz will probably let the mythic first race play out before big class changes, right?
yeah I think We will see major change before next raid tier.
I think its a cool ability and fun to use, but maybe not fun completely consuming our ramps. Maybe give it baseline but give it a 3m CD so that we have to pick when to use it instead of an evang ramp? For instance to absorb a particularly bursty mechanic or a mechanic that happens durring heavy movement?
The problem with nerfing it too much is that it won’t be used at all in favor of evangelism. Though with the consistent damage in this raid tier it might just make disc weak, since we’d end up overhealing with our evang ramp then be useless for a while. Spirit shell increases our heal window by like 15 seconds.
Yeah they normally do. They dont want to impact it
Nerf SS so every disc goes evan instead? It wont change much. Blizz designed disc to do all their healing in burst windows and until we get a consistent throughput option, it wont change.
yes healing. SS isnt healing. its an absorb that is like 70% of a your hps. It doesnt rely on skill and shuts out other healers. evang does not.
If I played with Disc priest on my other helaers, I just turn on atonement tracker so I know to not drop any cd after incoming damage, save me from a lot of frustration. Still SS should go, completely negate mechanic is not healthy for raid, also it makes other healers over heal more too.
I don’t think SS is going to get another nerf. It requires set-up and it shines early on in fights, but it usually gets out performed later by high throughput classes as the damage starts rolling on.
It really doesnt bro. Evang requires effort to set up. SS has more leeway to screw up and still do ok at it
Bro go have a look at the mythic healing rankings and disc is top by some margin. ITs not being outclassed
Disc only comes out ahead on Heroic and Mythic. It’s completely subpar in Normal. In addition, you are required to take SS over the other talents and perform very tight and specific ramps in order to get that performance.
If they nerf it, they’re going to have to buff the rest of the spec so they can compete. It’s just too niche as it is right now in raiding. Not good class design.
I don’t believe that. I don’t use SS and ive been competitive for the server and in my raid team.
I’d like to see some increased throughput changes to where Disc isn’t underwhelming outside of timing boss mechanics, and then we can bring down the efficacy of the burst windows. I’d like Disc to feel a little less gimmicky. I think Sins of the Many needs to be baked into the class by default, and probably a bit stronger with fewer atonements. Or put a light HoT on Power Word: Shield. Something to making Disc less extreme, all-or-nothing. It’s crazy how strong it feels inside of burst windows and how weak it feels outside of them, and the amount of fight knowledge and timing required to excel seems to be a bit higher than the average class. And yes, I’m sure there’s going to be some obnoxious “but we need a high skill ceiling, high skill floor healer so I can feel special” posturing, but honestly, this is not a hard game. It is a game of putting in time until you get the results you want. There is no reason for one healer spec to be this misaligned with the rest of the design vision of the game.
Blizz usually balances from the top-down at what the high end can do… so I wouldn’t expect them to give much credit to what happens in normal raids when the balance team is considering tweaks.
