Do troll hunters get an exotic license default?

Howdy, looking to make a new beast master hunter and I’m hoping to stick with them this time. I’d really love to make a male troll, as I find their hunter (bow) animations really nice, but I’m also a big fan of goblins and their quirky charm.

Do trolls get the ability to tame exotic pets by default just like how goblins can? I have very little experience with hunters at this point and I’d like to get it right in my head before I go out and make another character.

Welcome, with the BM hunter, it doesn’t matter which race you pick, all BM hunters have access to tame the same exotic pets. With the goblins being able to tame mechanical pets, all hunters are able to learn this ability by picking up a Mecha-Bond Imprint Matrix from the AH or by making it if you have engineering (legion engineering).

So feel free to choose whichever race you prefer. Enjoy.

Edit: I also just remembered that on the isle of giants in Pandaria, if you farm enough dinomancers you also get an item which allows you to tame dinosaurs.

As far as I am aware, no race gets “Exotic Beasts” by default and you have to level until 65 to tame exotics.

Gnomes and Goblins have the ability to tame Mechanical pets innately. Any other race needs the Mecha-Bond Imprint Matrix made by Engineers.

The item is Ancient Tome of Dinomancy and it allows you to tame Direhorns. Other dinosaurs (Raptors, Devilsaurs, Pterrordaxes, and dinosaurs that are a part of the Lizards and Scalehides) are tamable without any special item.

If I was starting a new hunter I would make it with an Allied race as they all get really cool looking starter pets (except mag orc).

I think you are talking about the Zandalari Trolls getting a free Direhorn? These arent exotic and I belive (not 100% sure) if you wanted to tame another you would have to farm the tome (found mine within 5 minutes) unlike the goblins getting the innate ability to tame mechanical pets.

Thanks for the tips all. I decided to go with a troll, it wont let me switch my character to him on here but hes level 38 so far.

Decided to try and find lightning paw and I literally found him in the first bush I /tar macrod next to. Feelsbad that I’m not level 65 and able to tame him though :confused:
