I got an upgrade for my shoulder slot on my Paladin during tonight’s run of the first wing of the new raid, but in the first slot has two traits to select that I already have active on other Azerite gear. Which is making me wonder if I should just throw it in the scrapper.
Does traits stack? Or am I just screwed?
EDIT found out about the azerite reforger.
From my knowledge they do, but certain effects dont, such has the CD reduction or Points generation
number buffs do, special effects don’t
The traits I am worried about are Avenger’s Might and Light’s Decree, and Expurgation
Top trait does stack yes. Second trait does not. cooldowns and such. But top number does.
In many cases, stacking traits is ideal. Other times, not so much.
Take Wilderness Survival (SV hunter trait), for instance. If you have it slotted once, you’ll get a reduced cooldown to your Wildfire each time Raptor Strike or Mongoose Bite is used. A huge DPS boost. Stack it, there’s no additional cooldown reduction, and the damage is garbage.
On the other hand, that same SV hunter can take Blur of Talons for a damage buff. The buff is so high, stacking it is ideal, and there are no repercussions/wasted slots.
In short, if you aren’t sure, look on Icyveins of Bloodmallet for a basic idea. Eventually, you’ll have it all memorized. Or sim it, though I am too lazy for that personally.
The damage/healing stacks. The duration and proc rate does not
It’d be nice QoL if they’d have a green “This trait can stack X times” if it can.
