Do Tanks still dodge?

Dumb question, but I was thinking the other day how a friend played a Nelf Warrior in Vanilla for the extra dodge it gave him. And then I realized a few things:

  1. I almost never see Nelf Warriors anymore.
  2. I don’t recall seeing the stat on anything anymore
  3. I never hear anyone talk about it as something that matters (dodge/block/parry)

Did they get rid of all of this? Is it built in to Vers?

Dodging is still a central part of Brewmaster’s kit, with their mastery making it so that each time you’re hit with an attack you get a stacking % chance to dodge the next, resetting with every dodge. And Guardian Druid simply gains a % dodge chance equal to their crit %.

I don’t think any other tank has any kind of inherent dodge though.

Yup,they do,my bear does for sure.

You’re right that not all tanks have a dodge mechanic built in to their class. But there was a time when occasionally, an enemy could still “miss” with an attack much in the same sense we could.

To answer the OP: I think that “dodging” isn’t really a thing anymore. Or, if it is, we don’t see an animation for it?

It’s not on gear anymore, but is still gain by some specs passively, based either on a spec spell or percentage of another stat.

Ah, my mistake then. I didn’t start playing until Legion and wasn’t aware :stuck_out_tongue:

I remember being happy when I found out that night elf was a good choice for a tank back in Cata. I was a night elf prot warrior at the time. I don’t remember it being a huge deal, but it was a nice bonus. I don’t remember hearing much about dodge for tanks after dodge and parry were removed from gear.

I dodge insults and abuse all the time in dungeon runs.

Dodge, Parry, and Block are all based off of the dps stats for tank classes. I think crit is usually parry and main stat is dodge? Mastery for prot pally and warrior effects block. Just makes it so we don’t need “tank gear” on the loot tables.

I don’t know much about it but I’ve seen items/armor with +dodge on them. Trinkets mainly.

This is an interesting read but I’m not sure if it is still current info:

“Dodge tanks” are Guardian, Brewmaster and Vengeance.

“Block tanks” are Prot warrior and Prot Paladin.

Blood DK’s parry attacks.

They dodge, but now a good tank is considered one that has good mitigation or selfsustain. If you’re to much dependent on healer you will be put on last place.

That is mainly because Blizzard wanted to get rid of that best race for X spec. So you can play whatever you want and still ne good at it

From this I take it that Warriors and Paladins don’t parry.

They do. Hover over Agility stat. It will show you the %

But I do miss actual proper tank and other role stats. And PvP stat!
I don’t know why Blizzard needed to simplify the stat system down to 4-5 stats, as we are 2nd graders. I wish it was brought back.

So that there is 100% clear destintion between Tank and non-tank gear. PvE vs PvP gear.

We still do them all, but it feels doing much less than before (not only from the lesser stats we currently have).
I wonder if they made block/dodge/parry animations to show less frequently…

Warriors also parry. It scales with our crit. Our dodge is only the baseline, though.

Dodge was a thing at one time. This toon was a Night Elf before I race changed in Cata when I did a lot of tanking.

These days many of those old stats are baked in. Dodge is baked in using the Agility stat for the leather users. For Warriors we have so little dodge, we mainly parry base line with Crit or mitigate it with a active ability.

I noticed this the other day on my stream an Alliance warrior is always a dwarf. Always.
