Do tanks stats matter while leveling?

I am currently leveling this guy, and i know that prot pallies should have haste, mastery, ect. I am level 80 right now and i saw some vendors with gear with parry and dodge on it. Do tanks stats really matter while leveling or should i just grab what i can and worry about stats at 120?

Just grab the highest ilvl stuff you can get as long as it has Strength on it.

Leveled my prot pally with just looms on…barely even noticed my HP drop unless I pulled too much…then I just bubbled and healed up or lay on hands. :stuck_out_tongue:

highest ilvl gear. At 120 you can start to min/max stats.

  1. Highest ilvl gear possible
  2. If deciding between an item that is 5 ilvl difference but has crit, versa, or mastery vs. haste, choose haste.
  3. After 120, Haste > Mastery > Versatility > Critical Strike
  4. Keep in mind that strength increases armor gained from Shield of the Righteous. That’s your main active defense mitigation. Don’t neglect it if possible. That’s the reason why I chose to play a Draenei for the strength bonus racial.
