Do tanks reserve all orbs in Strat live on other servers?

I had zero reason to run Strath live after finishing my quest and getting the dodge boots, warriors have even less reason to run it. You can sit in a queue for a long time waiting for a tank, or you can get a tank fast by offering the first orb. You cannot have both.

You will reserve an orb, or charge a fee, for a simple reason:

Tanks don’t need anything from strat live.

It usually goes like this: random whispers asking you to tank a dungeon appear in your chat box. You are mining, dueling, questing or whatever and you don’t need the dungeon. You say ā€œno, thanksā€ and they offer gold. You refuse again and the offer goes up. Then at around 30g you say ā€œsigh, whateverā€ and go tank the dungeon.

It isn’t extortion. Tanks have literally 0 reason to run Strat live, we just don’t want to do a dungeon for literally nothing but repair bills.

You could do it, well because you want to be social, help out others. You know being a nice human. Just a thought.

no… tanks don’t ā€œreserveā€ anything.

Ok, a thought experiment:

Someone you don’t know asks you to jump around the stormwind bank fountain for 2 hours. He/she pays you nothing, and will complain if you don’t do it fast enough for his/her tastes.

But going too fast kills both of your characters. And you pay a higher repair bill than he/she does.

Oh, and at the end they get their BiS gear, you get nothing.

Would you accept that proposition? Because that’s how tanks feel at Strat live.

We are being extremely nice in accepting only a Righteous Orb for that. If I was selfish I’d just keep mining and ignore the random whispers.

this is bunk, if you want to give yourself some faulty reasoning why reserving stuff is ok, this isn’t it. We aren’t special, noone should get to reserve gear. that’s just selfish.

Why do you run strat live?

I can simply not run it. I’d rather not run it. I am being generous when I accept to do it for only one orb.

And I’m not talking about reserving gear. I am talking about payment. No one reserves gear unless they want to end up with a terrible group.

It’s called capitalism. The tank market supports it, so deal with it.

When the randoms that I tank for start reciprocating on being a nice human being. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll agree to tank for them. As it stands right now the toxicity of running with randoms has removed me from the PUG pool.

Its called greedy bull puppies and you tanks that are pulling it are just plain greedy and should just go away and back to retail.

Really… I truthfully don’t care what you other tanks do or not do. I know that when some group pings me asking if i’ll tank for them, If I have time and nothing planned i happily do it, i know i could get some off tank gear drops or greens to sell for my repairs so i’m doing this out wanting to help and maybe some off gear.

If you greedy tanks can’t understand that simple reason for doing things is just to help out, then you never will and your life will be miserable because what you will be attracting is only those who do things only to help themselves good luck living int hat world i want no part of it.

So, with that said, good day… and good bye

Typically I dont reserve anything. No, this character is not high enough yet, but I have played, and tanked since the beginning and never did a group that had something on reserve unless it was a guild run. The way I see it, nobody in a pug owes anyone else anything. Sorry if that seems rude, but I apply it to myself as well.

Auction them on spot:

Tank pays highest bid to keep, divided to rest of group if he keeps orb.

Otherwise tank gets repair money from highest bidder.

You are welcome in advance.

I don’t understand that personally. There isn’t any decent gear from that place, it’s certainly not worth farming if you’re not getting orbs. Is there a rogue BIS there or something?

It takes 30s to find a tank as well. People are just lazy. You don’t need to even be prot spec to tank a dungeon.

Also, if you’re charging for a dungeon, that should mean:

You need NO drops
You get no loot - NOTHING. You get no cloth, greys anything. You’re being paid your fee. The fee of 20g.

Asking the rest of the group to pay you, then take their items is ridiculous.

While true, but from what I’ve seen most DPS warriors are more willing to spam LF Tank then actually tank it. Even had one say he would reroll if he had to tank.

In regards to the OP, I don’t reserve or charge. If I’m asked to run strat living then I may ask if I can need on an orb, but not make it a condition on me tanking it. Then again I generally don’t run it and turn down requests for that instance, for the same reason I turned down Gnomer, Ulda, and Mara(outside of Inner) while leveling. They are more of an annoyance then worth to tank/lead.

I don’t play the game for loot. I play for fun and the most fun for me is running 5 man dungeons. In wrath when I had done heroics many times and had some raid gear I used to heal regular dungeons. It was fun to nurse under geared tanks or inexperienced players through an dungeon. Healing through their mistakes made it a challenge. Maybe most people don’t do that.

Thats not remotely true.

I mean I sorta get that I definitely enjoyed doing dungeons early in expansions while very underheated or even in classic while very under leveled.

But when I do stuff like that it is usually with friends or other people that play hard and are good at understanding what needs to be done to clear that content effectively.

Running a pug for nothing except repair bills doesn’t sound too good especially if I only have a limited amount of time to play. I definitely understand if people want to ā€œoptimizeā€ their time by including some type of fee for tanking dungeons they no longer need to even do

Then don’t run them, Really as a Tank i’d rather you not run a pug, than to charge and give us Tanks a bad name… Just saying.
