Or is this just on Herod alliance?
On Incendius a lot of the groups are round robin but some of the tanks try to reserve the first orb
It’s happening on my realm as well. They reserve orbs and everything like an entitled child.
Yes, tanks often will reserve the first orb, and the rates they attempt to charge are comical.
Had a tank scoff at a 20g offer for LBRS.
“Just so you know, I wouldnt do it for less than 50g, just saying, thats my time.”
I promise to never charge for tanking.
I also promise not to pug. ewwww!
I have indeed seen tanks reserving the 1st orb but never seen them reserving ALL orbs. I mean that would make it pretty hard to get a group I would imagine.
That’s fair though. That’s his time. Only he gets to decide what his time is worth, just like only you get to decide what yours is worth.
My mans could straight up say “100g for an hour”, and he’d still be well within his rights to say it, just like you’d be well within your rights to laugh at him and say “yea, no thanks”.
Edit:
As an aside, I woulda passed a 20g offer too. I can make way more than that splitting the money with a healer and 2 manning DME jump runs. Can get 5 runs in under an hour (~10m per run).
Sure, but its absurd. You dont see healers charging rates like that.
Instead of reserving an Orb they should just state each orb drop goes to most damage taken up to that point and let the chaos ensue.
Usually its groups for strat live offering the first orb to anyone who will tank the run, now that less people need specific drops, I almost never see groups giving every orb to tank, although I did when people just wanted the gear from the instance.
I’m not talking about reserving the 1st orb. I’m talking about reserving ALL orbs which drop.
Because it takes about 30 seconds to find one instead of 30 minutes.
I have a feeling this is people testing to see what they can get away with it. If people accept this kind of thing then some tanks will keep asking for more. I think it’s ludicrous and I can’t imagine anyone actually accepting that stipulation.
I could just charge 10g for every orb that drops lol
The person in question claims it took them 17 minutes to form a group with all orbs reserved, even with extreme hostility in LFG chat against him.
I actually believe him.
I do too. Before DM released, I was doing Strat Live as my primary money maker with a guild Shaman. We’d reserve all orbs, pick up 3 random DPS to come along for the ride and split the proceeds of each run.
One time a DPS asked if they could get orbs for their crusader enchant. No problem—we just took all the green BoEs and BoP Blues they didn’t want instead and let the DPS roll off on the orbs.
People still needed quests/gear out of there at that point, and DPS is easily replaced. Groups never took more than 5 minutes to form, and often times people would stick around for additional runs.
Usually just the first one if they reserve any at all, but I did see one ad in LFG the other day wanting to reserve all orbs and I imagine he probably had a rough time finding a group for that.
I know…I wish I rolled a tank so bad.
Lol. The tank life is horrible for raiding though. Healer life or range dps life is where its at for raiding. In raid, there are a bajillion warriors. Usually only the MT gets loot. The rest just get to sit and twiddle their thumbs while one guy gets showered in epics. Then, a few months later, that guy gets poached by a better guild and the process starts over to gear a new tank.
One of the biggest reasons I’m anti MT priority. It’s much safer for your guild to just spread loot around like they do for other classes.
Nice thing is - you still can.
I don’t particularly like tanking all that much so I’m not mad I didn’t lol.
