Do streamers/Youtubers make RL money with WoW?

Im an old man so pardon the idiocy… but I see massive amounts of streams and youtube videos for advice, rankings, updates etc…

Do any of these people make money from this? I would assume so since there are so many of them. and if so, what’s the formula for them getting paid?

Like what do the “Top” people make per month?

Top streamers make millions.

I want to believe that, but then why do they all live in tiny studio apartments with 10+ year old furniture? :stuck_out_tongue:

They dont get paid from playing the game per se, the streaming platforms they use and donations/subs/etc are where they get their income from.

If you’re asking if Blizzard gives the streamers/youtubers money. No I don’t believe so. If you’re asking if they make money due to the traffic around the subject matter. Yes if the traffic they receive is enough to warrant advertiser deals or community driven funding.

Some look like a dumpster fire for sure, Asmongold being the WoW streamer that comes to mind, even he’s worth millions though.

Wow streamers honestly seem to be the most conservative of all streamers from what I’ve seen. It might just be a question of what makes them happy. Can’t really break it down further than that IMO.

Love him or hate him (The forums usually hate him), he is far more wealthy than most think. Can’t say for sure, but his family and personal situations is also probably a huge factor. He and his mother seem to have a form of co-dependence that I can’t criticize. Being filial and lazy is probably what influences him to be quite fair.

Yes, top streamers make absolute truckloads of cash. The idea that some average joe can start up a stream and make a living right away isn’t exactly obtainable (unless you’re an attractive young lady who shows a lot of skin).

Don’t get fooled by that. They all make good money, even lower level ones and the higher tier makes millions. Asmon streamers from attic, soda streams from the closet and they are both millionaires.

No, he isn’t a millionaire… show me this proof. I can’t even believe these guys make a six figure income. Can someone point me to WORLD OF WARCRAFT streamers and/or Youtube people that can verify the money they make?

Do a web search and stop being lazy.

Asmongold is probably the top earner as far as WoW streamers go. The guy is worth millions. I’m fairly certain he is just playing a character, and his trashed room with ratty computer chair is just a set at this point.

When Asmongold moved in to his mansion, he specifically made a streaming set that perfectly matched his original room, so that no one would know he moved.

The big names in streaming/YouTube content creation make money from their ad revenue/sponsors/donations/subscriptions, but are never paid by Blizzard or anything like that.

Just google “Asmongold net worth.” Is this your first time on the internet?

Twitch streamers at Asmongold’s level make an astronomical amount of money.

Just from subs alone he makes $4.00 (Twitch takes a 20% cut) per subscriber he has, and he averaged somewhere between 15k to 40k subscribers depending on when we’re talking (i.e. during Classic he easily exceeded the latter), per month. I know these figures both because other high-profile streamers talked about it openly on many different occasions and because I myself used to work for an extremely popular streamer, although that person has since been banned from Twitch, Facebook Gaming, and the wider gaming community he was a figurehead within due to some extremely heinous stuff he covered up for years, so I knew fully well how much money that guy was making at his peak of 20k subscribers, including several dozens of Tier 3s and several hundreds of Tier 2s and donations. His Facebook Gaming deal alone was upwards of six figures and that pales in comparison to the ~$50m and ~$20m deals that the biggest names on Twitch back in 2019, Ninja and Shroud, received when Mixer picked them up. Those aren’t k’s. Those are m’s. Those are eight figures.

Let’s take that conservative estimate and say that Asmongold has 15k subscribers, all of whom are Tier 1 and not Tier 2 (80% of $10.00) or Tier 3 (80% of $25.00). If we’re taking just that conservative estimate of 15000 Tier 1 subs and factoring in neither sponsorships nor higher sub tiers nor even random donations he gets he’s making $60k per month.

His net worth is somewhere in the range of $3-4 million, if memory serves me, but that might’ve been a while ago by this point. With OTK (the esports org he co-owns with Esfand, Mizkif, Rich Campbell, and a few others) and the partnerships that org has with big sponsors that could very well go up drastically.

Rich Campbell and Asmongold once walked to a Wendy’s a year and change ago and looked like absolute bums, but they were without question the two wealthiest people eating in that Wendy’s at that time by an extremely large margin.

Funny, first article I got said net worth $200k… I am talking verifiable sources… not shock articles to get people to click.

I’m tiny make mayhe 1 or 2 vids for YouTube per month and stream mplus and raid night. Make about $200-300 per week doing this. I would invest more time but also work full time. For those who make content for a living I’m sure the numbers are allot better. Keep in mind 90% of revenue if from twitch as youtube more often then not flags my vids as being non monetized
