I’ve done a fairly decent amount of mining maxing out my null slivers to get caught up with profession knowledge and I’ve never seen a single seam in the outside world. I encountered one and it was in a delve.

There are two little caverns in the deeps where I have encountered seams, but you are right. They are extraordinary rare! Not at all worth a 25 KPs wheel dedicated to them! It will be the very last wheel to be filled on my various miners.
I decided to check thing out in that zone as I primarily mine on the Isle of Dorn. I found three different seam locations and they’re not worth the effort to track down they gave me a similar haul to a rich node. Very disappointing for how rare they are.
2 exist is dorn, 5 in deeps, 2 in hallowfall and I have yet to find a spawn location for them in azj.
I’ve done a lot of testing and according to my hard evidence, seams only exist when I’m not on my miner. ¬_¬

I got knowledge points for mining my first Ironclaw seam of the expansion and I’ve mined a lot. They are in delves sometimes or I see them in caves, but a cave isn’t worth going into for one of these.
Seams will for sure be the last thing I max out. Also having recently specced into EZ mines they give a ton of ore now. I average 10 or so per node and I’m excited to see them now.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen one outside of a delve.
I too meet them oftentimes in Delves, and I wonder about something. Seems one cannot overload the special nodes encountered in delves, maybe that’s been fixed haven’t tried recently. The last node of the rich wheel have that special chunk that sometimes (I said sometimes!) fall of the node. Does that chunk happens in delves? Or is it blocked like the overloads?
I’ve never done a delve on my miner so I’m not sure. I will say I feel that talent is a little underwhelming. The extra chunk comes out so late I’ve usually flown away by the time it lands. I’ve also never gotten a null stone proc from that chunk either.

They are not too bad, not great either but I digress. I have had KP items out of that chunk, all sorts of ranks prolly a null stone, but then again they are so unreliable. At least the rich nodes are regular so it felt worth it to have + skill in them. Seams are… Not worth the hassle more often than not.

I have gotten a null stone from the chunk. It can proc anything a regular node can proc.
