I wanted to make a class that’s 100% no magic and seem to only have settled it on warrior and rogue (hunters use arcane/chimera shot) as classes that do NOT use any magic at all?
I feel rogue is an iffy spot, I hear some people say it uses shadow magic for stealth, but also the opposite argument of you aren’t 100% concealed so it ISN’T magic.
What’s the verdict on rogues, do they use magic? If so I guess I’m stuck with warrior.
Do you consider shadow damage as magic?

Sub uses shadow magic, Assassin uses nature magic. They all use poisons which is nature magic, but if you ignore the poisons damage type outlaw is all physical.

I would assume shadow is? I’m not entirely sure or fully educated on WoW lore, or the intricate of certain things in it, which is why I’m asking such a dumb weird question.

Are you doing this for rp or for pve/pvp or both? For rp you can just be a sneaky thief, scoundrel, pirate, or something. If you’re talking about for pve/pvp then they use shadow magic I believe.

That’s no worry at all. Sub rogues use shadow magic (see: Shadowstrike) to deal a lot of their damage. Are you okay if the spec (not the class) doesn’t use that magic? I’m thinking of outlaw (which still uses poisons - is that fine?)

You could play Outlaw rogue. Poisons are not magic, its nature damage. Roll the Bones might be considered a form of magic though.

I’d prefer both, I do rp with my guild but I prefer to keep my character as pure as I can do my RP, which is the goal of a “no magic” type of toon.

I wouldn’t personally qualify rtb as magic (unless someone can 100% ground proof that) since you could from an RP stand point, just roll the dice and act accordingly to what it says as handicap.

All classes use some magic. Even warriors with covenant abilities.
Rogues use both shadow and nature magic. In the form of poisons and shadowmagic based moves if you spec into subtelty.
The class with least magic is warrior.

Surely poisons would fall under alchemy…

I mean technically it would fall under apothecary, but it deals nature damage which in wow is a magical damage type.

I think almost all classes and specs use magic of some form for gameplay. I have a hunter(not this one lol) who has no magical skills, so instead of magic, it’s just normal arrows/bullets with some poisons. There’s actually a term for when there’s a difference between established lore/story in a game and the actual gameplay mechanics called ‘ludonarrative dissonance.’ I’ve rped my dk as just a warrior, not a dk before, so the difference doesn’t bother me. I also rped light-skinned velves as high elves before they gave us the customization for it. But, for you, if you’re wanting to stick closer to class abilities = rp, I think warrior or rogue is what would fit you best.
In gameplay mechanics it counts as magic. I learned this because of the

Poisons fall under nature magic schools. We can debate in lore wether or not it’s actually magic. But I would think it’s just the in game lore stating stuff is of the nature realm magics. Since the poisons are extracted from living things. Perhaps living things have a magical property innate to them, such as anima = death and the poisons are just part of the nature part of the world.

Ignore all this debate and just make a warrior.

Warrior has the least magic. Mostly physical damage. There magic is like in covenant abilities. Which is arcane, nature, and shadow based. Although that is more of a borrowed power. But Spear of Bastion is staying for dragonflight.
So warrior has the least amount of magic.

They 100% use magic to stealth, vanish, conceal a group and shadowstep.
…not to mention their ability to sap without doing permanent damage to the victim.

I highly doubt that warriors are a completely non-magical class in lore, either. Avatar has to be magical.

It’s more like 0% for all of those excepting maybe the group concealment.
Cloak of shadows appears to be 100% magical, though.
Just make a warrior.
