Too much work for too little gain. Rogue Hero Talents are underwhelming. No real raid utility. Other classes sniping their niche abilities.
Subtlety became too clunky in their damage windows.
Assassination became the most popular, but power creep from other classes eventually won out.
Outlaw is a pitiful mess and requires Ultra Instinct levels of reaction time on EVERY pull.
Anything a rogue offers a group, there are just better options. Shroud is their only unique utility and it has no effectively great use for keys…especially keys the masses live(d) in.
The downside is if Blizzard reversed it and made rogues have awesome shroud skips or unlockable shortcuts that only they can unlock…it would just make them mandatory by virtue of their class features which is also unfair and not fun.
I got back on my rogue to complete the Shadowlands meta achievement and it feels bad. I mean, there are a lot of times where an ability will click but just not go off until hit again. I feels clunky and bugged. I think there needs to be a bigger range for attacks. In other news, their visuals are virtually non-existent. It just doesn’t feel fun to play, compared to other classes.
Mained rogue for a long time switching back and forth to shadow priest. But I’ve stuck with shadow for a while now so rogue feels weird to me now. lmao
Why play rogue when Ret Paladin, DH, Dk, and warrior all have better skill sets and better armor and better self heals and better cooldowns?
Literally the only thing rogue has a leg up on is stealth which is overrated modern day. Rogue is melee and so are all of the above, the others just do it better in every aspect.
Rogue is in need of a resurrection and adding something insanely good to its toolkit. Until that happens it’s really nothing more than a class for flavor that people play for nostalgia.
They’re the least played class by alot because the class is stuck in old archaic design choices that are clunky and not fun to play with
(yes i know it has its fans, but the player numbers don’t lie)
Any class would work for the “content” you do, so your input that “rogues are fine” comes out as hollow for anyone doing higher difficulty content, since rogues are much worse compared to any other class when it comes to soloing anything, even rares or pulls with more enemies.
What you’re saying is basically that “rogues are fine as main tanks because you can solo legacy content with them”.
I used to like rogues much more before the DF class tree. The bottom of that tree is pure nightmare to me, they’re all things I dislike, and outlaw in particular has the same “issue” in the spec tree.
IIRC, IMO, they started “falling apart” in Legion.
While it’s still my favorite expansion, I can’t deny it broke a lot of specs.
Quite the opposite. They are terrible for 1v1. Worst class for it. By far.
Even while correctly rotating CDs, it’s the hardest class to solo rares with, specially when most are CC immune.
Needing Vanish for good damage is the final nail in its soloing ability coffin, as it resets NPCs.
In summary, they are a squishy, (currently) low damage, high skill floor, control class, that needs someone else to keep the enemy in combat in PvE, in a world where control is all but gone.
Yeah the modern rogue in PVE feels so heavy to play. There are so many things to get rolling before our damage ramps up and by that point the mob is dead or someone else runs up and nukes the thing down in a few hits. Long gone are the days of cheapshot, backstab, backstab, evis, dead mob.
I’m worried Blizzard might change the class because bad players complain about it being too complex. The way the class is designed is what draws me to it. Every other class, imo, feels soooooo boring to play in comparison. I’m struggling to level my Hunter because its so boring to play lol.
That’s not it, at all. You can have complexity like Feral without it turning into the APM vomit that is Outlaw. It’s one of the specs that feel like the developers just slap-dash whatever they think will work just to appease the four people that like playing Hill Billy Subtlety.
Agreed. Doesn’t help they had a dev for a few recent expansions that thought playing piano on your keyboard was enjoyable. The same dev also managed to cripple havoc’s playerbase.
