Do realms matter anymore?

by this i mean is EVERYTHING cross realm now?

i ask because i have some character on a “dead” realm that i kinda wanna play again, they have unique names i can’t really get on my main overpopulated realm.

I believe city trade chat and login queues are still server specific.
But do servers generally matter? No.

i assume i can transfer everything between characters via the warbank? (or whatever its called)

i’m returning after a few years of barely playing so i’m behind on the limitations and restrictions of cross realm alts.

Try sending mail to a character from lord of the rings without a server in the address and see where it ends up.

I bet the furnace in iron forge. I mean, why not? Bunch of war criminals anyhow, what’s some federal issues with burning mail?

Pretty much, yes. Gear, mats, gold, etc.
And you can transfer currencies too, for example the new pre-patch currency, via the Currency tab. (A lot of the older ones don’t support it, but in TWW new / relevant currencies will)

Me getting Voidtalon today by having alts scattered across different servergroups and shards:

Yes.
Kind of.

They should just make Universal chat. One chat to rule them all. The Chaos. “Let it begin gif”

I had a thought about this last night. Are we still in battle groups? Like the players I see in the M+ queues, are they from my battle group or was that removed?

I ask because that would probably be the only thing that matters when it comes to which realm you are on.

You trying to break the game. Because thats how we break the game.

I believe work orders for crafted gear are still per server. So if you are on a dead server it may likely be difficult find a crafter for high end gear.

I think as far as sharding goes, only the RP realms are grouped into their own, though non RP can if they group with a player from one of the realms. Random groups I think everyone is lumped together.

I could be mistaken.

Do you want cross-realm play, or do you want realms to matter? Because those things are mutually exclusive.

Realms are going to matter a great deal when Area 52, Illidan, and Tichondrius have login queues when the new expansion hits.

i’m asking a question not creating a debate. lol

though personally? i don’t care about realm identity in WoW anymore.

The only thing that isn’t cross-realm is like others mentioned, chat/etc.

You can be invited to a group/guild from a different realm and play with those people. Anything not soulbound can be moved between characters via the warbank.

So you’re good.

If you don’t mind making a new character on a diff server to be on a high pop server by default, the Radiant Echoes event is fast leveling with 480ilvl gear that can be bought with currency. (I realise you touched on this making it irrelevant lol. Going to keep it up incase anyone is in a similar boat but without nifty names, etc. )

Also someone mentioned crafting orders, they are still server to my knowledge. But a guild mate on a seperate server can fill the order if you select them during the creation process.

Edit: typos fixed.

Yeah, to keep the normies off Moon Guard.

They used to matter. People had pride in their realm because it was their home, they were born there and started there, and so were the people they met and friends they made.

Now they should just call the realms server 1, server 2, server 3 etc…

Trîçks
Server 107

can crafting orders be completed cross-realm?
