Do pve players use an MMO mouse?

I dont play enough pvp to be the reigning world champ (see also: skill) so i though “ah screw it, ill stick with this lovely Dell mouse”

But i have a few godt cards burning a hole in my pocket so i thought id look into the X button mouse.

Any of you Lore Masters use an MMO mouse?

I don’t. I just use a good old Logitech trackball, more or less the same kind of trackball I’ve used for most of the last thirty years.

For around ten years I’ve used a Razor naga/and the pro. I’ve recently swapped to the Corsair Scimitar and I love it. I used to swear by the naga but over the years the quality seems to have slipped and I found myself having to replace them way too often.

Highly recommend an MMO mouse of any type (find one you like) if you play or plan to play at any challenging difficultly.

I have one and didn’t like it.

I’m too partial to the Logitech G 203.

It was very expensive like 20 bucks at Wally World

i’ve been interested in picking one up eventually, but every time i just think about the fact that keybinds work just as well?

is there any notable benefits? i guess just having some extra ones that are easy to reach for classes with more?

Depends on the the type you get. The one I use allows me to reach 12 buttons with my mouse thumb, now factor in any modifier - alt, shift, ctrl. That’s 48 keybinds basically at my thumb.

i do suppose that could be useful if i decide to pick up healing again for more modifiers and such

Idk, maybe i’ll give it some thought again sometime, only issue is i have bad wrists so a heavy mouse worries me a lil.

There are a few brands out there that may help with that. Some come with…not sure what they call them but maybe faceplates? Anyway some come with ones that can be swapped out, they vary from having a different number of buttons to being different weights.

If possible I would check out a local store that may carry them and see if you can get a feel for some. There are many different types out there and they are all a little different.

Are my hands too big? My arms too strong?

I tried one of those and every time I pressed a button, the mouse moved.

To say nothing of the buttons are sooooooo small, I would need some kind of prosthetic to just press one of them to a degree of certainty of my satisfaction.

I spent some time trying to acclimate to it and finally was like “I do everything I need with keybinds, why am I trying to reinvent the wheel here???”

Went back to a basic mouse with just 1-2 extra flair buttons for FPS and I’ve never been happier.

Gimmick items sell. Just not for me.

It’s basically just more keybinds in a more convenient (once you get used to it at least) position.

If you’re not running out of keybind space you won’t really notice it. I mostly use mine for mounts, consumables and pet control.

Scimitar my beloved

I’m a fan of the Logitech G600 mouse. Then they stopped making those for some reason, and didn’t make a successor model.

So now I’m using a Corsair Scimitar. Not as good, but it’ll do.

I’ve been using a Redragon M908 Impact 12-button for almost three years.

I use a Logitech G402 Mouse.

It has a few extra buttons but I do not use them for anything.

I have played both pve and pvp for over a decade and never once thought about using an MMO mouse. I’ve been through the ups and downs of having to use tons of macros and keybinds through the games button bloat but these days its easily manageable. I’ve just lost some shift/alt modifiers.

I use the G305 , has a couple buttons, but I bought it for its smaller size and endless battery life lol I’ve actually bought 3 of them through the years, gave 1 to my dad.

I’m in the same boat you were. Been using the naga for a long time, but it has issues with tracking. Sometimes the cursor jumps, and sometimes it just stops tracking completely. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it happens enough to be very annoying. Even adjusting the lift-off range doesn’t seem to help. I might try the scimitar…

As for the OP’s question: yes. Get an mmo mouse. You won’t be able to go back once you get used to it. I cannot imagine playing this game without it.

Highly recommend the one Cayna linked a few posts up. Slightly bigger and lighter than the naga which took me a little to get used it but now I love it.

As soon as I got my mmo mouse I never looked back. I even play doom with it and use the buttons to quick swap my weapons.

But as for pve, it gives me a uniform keybind set for all classes on my keyboard.
F is kick. R is stun. X is set to my mouse-over focus. Q is set to my class’s self heal, E is set to the class’s personal defensive.

Just having an MMO mouse made playing alts so much easier when you can just put your rotational abilities and cooldowns on the mouse and leave your universal buttons on your keyboard.
