Do people still hate the levelling process?

I started my alt a month ago, didn’t really put that much time into it but have been logged in doing nothing for some time, so the /played doesn’t really give an indication of actual time played levelling vs. doing nothing - just under 4 days total, maybe half of that doing nothing in game.

I started a DK, so I am not sure what is longer, the initial 55 levels or the DK starting zone, someone said the first 40+ levels should only take a few hours, but I now sit halfway to level 106 and today alone have gained almost 4 levels in only a couple of hours.

I do not recall the levelling process ever being so fast, the Heirlooms do help, but I still think it is too fast, Blizzard offer a boost for $80 AUD, or I can just sit here for a week and push from 1-120 with ease.

I don’t think I’ve ever really enjoyed it, even when it was super fast.

Was? I didn’t play WoD, last time I levelled was 3 characters in MoP and that felt slow compared to now.

Because when youve done it over 6 dozen times like me leveling can suck it.
Same zones and quests Ive seen over and over again. Nope.

I can’t really recall the speeds of each expansion.

I just don’t like leveling.

Except the Pre-Legion Invasions, those were fun.

Problem is leveling from 1-120 only takes a day and that is WAY too much time to be spending leveling when i can be making gold to pay my sub fee.

When 1-120 only takes 6 hours then maybe i’ll roll an alt. and once we get that i will push to get leveling from 1-120 in 2 hours. (still too long but an improvement)

Yes i know leveling 1 level used to take like a week but that time is gone and now us millennials are playing. That boat don’t float with us. This is no longer a game where we “level” toons to play the game.

Yes, yes we do (well atleast most of us)

I liked the pre-scaling, pre-dungeon changes leveling.

It was great for speed leveling and the pacing was just right for me. Since then, I haven’t created or played a character for the purpose of leveling it.

1 day? Dude. How.

This. That’s why I’m holding off on a couple alts I was starting until 8.1 because it sounds like the amount of XP needed to level will be lowered a lot, in addition, WM will increase XP by 30%. That will definitely improve efficiency.

Pretty much this exactly. Leveling is now a job instead of a process for me. Hopefully 8.1 will actually make me want to level an alt again.

Its not that it sucks, its just that I’ve done it repeatedly over the years. I take my time, read the quests, do some ground level exploring (I leveled most of my chars pre-Cata), and mess around having fun.

Its fun, but even at two levels an hour I’ll take over 40 hours of game-play to hit 100, let alone 120.

I don’t know about you guys, but I really don’t have the time to play that I used to, I think I’m down to about 5 hours a week right now. Maybe 1 of that will go towards alts.

Ya it was really fun when we could go from level 1 to max level by soloing old dungeons, made the game more interesting and made more sense in a leveling mmo for everyone involved.

Got alot of cloth too and enchant mats that i sold to some suckers in ah really cheap. Oh and mog stuff…made a killing never have to pay blizzard a dime again, ever. Thx blizz for making your game free! Don’t know how you pay people but dont care… I spend my money on toilet paper rather than your game now :money_mouth_face: Just feels right you know?

They need to revert the changes so i can stock up on more toilet paper and save the huge money.

I should be a banker.

Same. I’m only getting them to 60… through dailies. Maybe 1 dungeon a day.

Got one character out of three to lv60. Others are lv55 and lv40.

Thats where I’m at. I’ve played this game for way too many years. Slogging through the Cata/styled zones, into BC and Wrath’s ancient design and whiplashing back just to deal with janky scaling in WoD and Legion ain’t enjoyable the umpteenth time you’ve done.

Course, I’ve got all these boosts from the past 3 expansions I can’t use because Blizzard says “No. You must level the allied races from scratch because we say so.” So…Yeah, not much motivation to do it all over again.

Ugh, I’m not even going that far. As soon as I heard about the 30%, I stopped one at 75 and another at 52. WM or not, I’ll take the risk.

I like leveling on my own terms. Usually that means grinding dungeons because I can get a group that pulls the world and keeps it interesting. The new trend since wod to have a totally dictated path to end content kind of killed leveling for me, when they introduced either required content/items that you did while leveling (followers in wod, rep/pillars in legion) it really put a damper on the experience. When I feel like I am at a disadvantage leveling in other methods such as dungeons, expeditions, or battlegrounds which are legitimate means to do so, it makes me feel like the experience is lackluster at best. The boa flight path will be nice, but it’s a bit to late in my opinion. I have 6 120s, 2 that actually did the quest lines in the zones to level, which were awful the second time, and 4 that were mostly timewalking grinds. The game has gotten progressively less alt friendly since MoP.

I don’t know if he meant one actual day or one in game day. Addons help, also having flying in all zones is a must, I slowed down a bit in WoD without flying.

Just push and follow the arrows, nice and easy.

I pick bottles from my neighbors yard and i buy a boost.

Oh, real money. And interacting with other people. Pass.
