Do people seriously use rotation add-ons?

Been playing the game for over 16 years and just learned that this is a thing. Are people seriously using add-ons to tell them which move to press next? Not criticizing anyone, but that’s kinda sad… You’re seriously trying to take shortcuts in a game that you pay every month in order to play?

Personally when I want to learn how to play a class or even re-learn after not playing it for a while, I’ll start a new level 1 toon and actually play the class and run dungeons so I can get a feel of it.

Using DBM is already iffy but I can understand that since the devs literally build raid encounters with the app in mind, knowing that most people already use it. It sucks but it is what it is at this point.

It’s 100% cheating imo if you use a rotation app, but good players will out dps you regardless

Post on main so forum sleuths can tell you exactly why you yourself need the addon

I don’t, but…

You should see the flow chart for the shadow priest single target priority system.

I use it when I’m picking up a new class and then turn it off when I know how to play. They’re not bad but they’re far from optimal. Especially when you’re in an M+ situation and the amount of targets, cleave targets, spread targets, incoming targets are all changing throughout.

Sure, you can get pretty close to optimal for a specific target amount that doesn’t change, like if you’re fighting target dummies. But in any M+ key you’ll end up pulling like 30k or something.

I’m mixed on them.

Optimally the addon won’t really be able to make an accurate decision based on the circumstances (it won’t know that it’s telling you to use a major CD when a mob pack is about to die).

However when learning a class I love using a rotation addon because I get used to the class it far more quickly than I would with anything else.

This is literally criticism.

Just settle down and let people enjoy things.

I started using one several expansions back, Legion I think. It made a huge difference in my dps and overall performance. I had a lot of Weak Auras for timers, buffs/debuffs, CD’s. It was was crazy. My rotation addon (Hero Rotation), allowed me to streamline everything and made my UI more manageable.

I know my class well enough that the add on serves as a guide to suggest what I should do next. The action priorities for some specs can be overwhelming.

Yes some people use rotational addons and some people make low effort bait posts in the forums for attention we all have our demons

I have to track 7 debuffs. I’d be insane to not use an addon.

I dont care about rotation addons, but that one addon that shows the cooldowns of enemy cc abilities and your own cc diminishing return times on enemy players…

That should be banned.

No it’s not, because it’s protected under the EULA; that said if you don’t have your rotation macrod to the point you only properly use 4-5 buttons you’re prolly new

“I’m not gonna criticize you…” but also “that’s sad…”
What a troll lol.

These can’t all be true at once.

Statistically youre probably playing you class and spec wrong or not optimally.

Very few people in this world are actually good.

I don’t, but it’s more effective than staring at your action bars to see when things come off cooldown.

It varies by class/spec how useful they are.

I do use weakauras though; for most talent procs, the game doesn’t have spell alerts. And it’s good to know exactly when your big damage buffs like Combustion are going to end.

Do people still drink coffee instead of sleep?
Do people still buy fast food when you can cook?
Do people still use exercise videos when you can just jog?

Just adding that I dunno if they’ve been updated yet, but those rotation addons are definitely not accurate for arcane mage. So do not use them for arcane mage, unfortunately you gotta learn their crazy rotation on your own.
