Do people actually do RP on RP servers or is that just the name of the server

I was really thinking about levelling on an actual RP server and commit to a character that I’d play. Was thinking a dwarf warrior who only uses maces.

Do people actually RP and pretend to be a race and a certain play style or does it not actually happen?

They do on Bloodsail Buccaneers, and it also does happen on Grobbulus but less frequently.

Deviate Delight has lots of roleplay if you know where to look.

And yes people actually commit…one of my guildies is an “arcane mage” who only uses arcane spells etc.

I RP as someone who breaks the 4th wall.

I RP by playing hardcore, one life BABY! (on BB)

Absolutely. Just about all of the rp servers have rp going on somewhere or another.

I’ve had quite a few fun interactions. One of them involved an undead vomiting all over my fur…

You can imagine what kind of disgusting foulness that it takes to make an undead throw up, and then to have that coat your fur for the duration of the dungeon.

I’m never impressed with the rp.

Just go to the goldshire inn…

Oh yes, RP actually does happen. In fact, it was a good excuse as to why I didn’t have any Fire Spells, as I was leveling (and saved a lot of gold, that way) 'cause I’m a Frost Mage. Plenty of RP to be had on Bloodsail and Grobbulus (yes, I’ve tested both and main Bloodsail). I was very consistent, with my RP, as I was leveling. Stayed in character, quite a bit, as I leveled. I recommend downloading CLASSIC Total RP 3 (TRP). You can really get into details about your character(s).

RP definitely happens, but a majority of the people on RP servers don’t really RP at all. If you seek out RP, you’ll find great RP communities on the RP servers and get to know people within them. At the same time, you could come to a RP server join a raiding guild and never see any RP, but it’s there if you want it. Overall, I think the community is better on RP servers, both with the RPers and the non-RPers.

(My experience is playing on Deviate Delight Alliance and Grob horde, both are pretty similar in this regard, although very different in other ways).

Another observation I’ll make is that I think Horde takes RP way more seriously than alliance. This is true on both DD and Grob. I don’t know anything about what goes on at BB, I’m thinking about rolling a character there to see if it’s any different.

This is very true. A lot of people, often, are surprised that I use “OOC” to separate myself, from my characters. It’s like…well, I’m not IC, right now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I, definitely, RP, though. Right now, I believe the Forums (at the time of this post being made) is showing my RP Gear :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Some do, some don’t. Some do a lot of face-to-face RP or story-based RP (often within guilds, as that can be easier to coordinate.) Some enjoy occasional RP events. Some mostly create a story and background for their character and play that out, without necessarily interacting with someone else.

Plenty join an RP server because friends do or because they heard it is ‘nicer’ and never actually engage in any RP beyond the fact they’re playing a character, race, class, within a video game.

Bear in mind that RP choices could have consequences if you hold rigidly to them. This is still a game and you will find yourself around players who don’t care what your RP is if you’re deadweight in a group. If you’re good at OOC (out of character) versus IC (in character) compartmentalization, easy enough to switch it up.

I recently took my main out of my RP guild and joined a different guild. While my new guild is a fantastic group of people to play with, including some of my best and oldest friends on the server, it is sad that none of them really RP. I noticed in last week’s raid that only one other person in the group even had TRP installed :stuck_out_tongue:

But, my friends who like to RP are still there and I still enjoy playing with them, it’s not like they ostracize me because I chose to join a guild that focuses on other things.

I’ve seen it on bloodsail buccaneers as well.

I haven’t seen anyone do it in the middle of an instance melee.
