People keep saying this but I’ve yet to see it.
They do on occasion. It’s rare. It usually happens when they eat a soup stone.

It may be hard to tell when it happens, because they almost always coat their food rocks in mud sauce, so you have to look carefully at what they are eating.
And good luck getting close enough, without getting an axe to your head, while they are eating to do that.

In reality? Yes it’s possible for orcs or anyone eating bread to consume small amounts of stone because of how millstones can leave grains of sand or if used long enough small fragments of stone in the bread.
But usually it’s said as an insult to orcish intelligence.
Back before us void elves were cast out of the horde, we used to have local get togethers with other horde members. I can confirm orcs do eat rocks.
