I woke up today with a bnet icon on my phones notifications, and I immediately thought, “That better not be a TWW ad.” Unfortunately, I am once again disappointed but not surprised. Combining the authenticator with the bnet app and then using that to put ads in people’s push notifications is so, so scummy. You’re putting people in the position of having to chose between account security and having their notifications littered up with ads. It’s annoying, and it will ultimately lower account security as people decide that being this largely useless app is not worth being annoyed in one of the few places still safe from the parasitic advertising industry.

Are you not able to use the Authenticator but turn off push notifications?
Oh, that’s a good question. Let me check, because not only did they send me another one after I finally bought TWW telling me to buy the Epic edition, and then a 3rd one just now telling me to come back to WoW, like I wasn’t just logged in a few hours ago. I still shouldn’t have to choose between being annoyed and getting notifications about account security though, and they still shouldn’t be using an authenticator for advertising.
I mean pretty much any app, at least on android (never used iphone) can silence notifications
