It is clear the devs are up against a wall with all the deadlines approaching. I get there is probably no time to look at pvp.
But not letting MMR reset is such an easy W. Doing this in DF S4 made it one of the best seasons to push both shuffle and normal arena. We did not have any of the deflation issues in DF s4 compared to previous DF seasons. Healers in shuffle were able to reach the highest CR the fastest which was also a small W for healers.
Please please, just make this standard. Not resetting MMR also helps new players as well since high MMR players are quickly spread to the higher end of the ladder. It’s a win win for everyone.
Returning players who are high skill will also be able to quickly climb since the average MMR of the entire playerbase is boosted which naturally inflates the MMR gains of returning players who may not have a previous season MMR.

So thats why i got 1800 on 2 diff chars back in dragonflight s4. (1800 casual player at best)
The lack of inflation makes it feel impossible for players who aren’t as sweaty. This is a bad system and as we can see leads to an exodus. They need to inject more MMR to the system in order to maintain their players because otherwise they’ll do other things, which leads to these dead seasons.

I imagine they would do this for brackets outside of blitz.
I think it’s a good idea to not hard reset MMR for season 2. I think that when players see how much inflation there actually is they’ll queue more instead of doomsaying.
Also better healer balance going forward is important. It’s pretty solid now, but was REALLY bad for the first month or so.

Definitely. And if they dont want people getting their 1800 mog on day one then give tokens for wins… more tokens for wins the higher your rating… and let people grind out the mog.
Yes we did. We were screaming in forums until week 7 for an MMR fix because no one was 2400. It was identical to this season. The thread for it is currently near the top of arena forum lol.

You’re thinking of the wrong season.
They opened the can of worms with their previous inflated seasons.
I’m tracking that Mmr only hard resets on an expansion where we have to level again and season to season it soft resets with high level of volatility on your placement games?
Crimson I didnt get the mount and my obsidian Mmr started pretty bad but then verdant/draconic I exited placements pretty close to where I ended the previous season

They specifically stated S4 Dragonflight that they made a change and did not reset MMR. It was noticeable. Other seasons in Dragonflight it was reset. I found one reference to it below.

Hmm interesting I must’ve missed that.
Think it was probably just because Draconic was so short relative to other seasons. I don’t think that’d be a good start for a full length one
Yeah this was exactly the reason they stated… Still trying to find the original blue post but holy crap is there really no site out there where you can actually search them?
