I’m sure theres plenty of posts about it, I’m sure plenty has been said but if you start banning/disabling/hindering addons that have been around for well over a decade now, you will lose players. I for one will be done if you start doing this, been playing since 2004 and would be a shame to lose one of my fall back games but you can’t expect people to be OK with you removing things or hindering things that we have used for years upon years…especially with sorry excuses as replacements…
That’s all, I won’t be following up on this or reading any replies, just wanted to throw another voice on the pile.
i think you will be alright because they will make versions ingame for some things like they did the cd tracker thing. Also they will adjust mechanics and difficulty to account for some of those addons they want to take away. But also they wont take all addons out so maybe the ones you like will stay.
That thing is one of the biggest pieces of garbage they’ve ever put into the game. Having zero customization options is an automatic L.
And that’s the crux of the issue. Addon developers create these out of love and passion for the game. They’ve done it for free for 20 years. Ion’s vision comes with an unlimited budget. We all know that this development will have a shoestring budget because that’s what Blizzard does. So we’re going to get options that are half-baked, uncustomizable, and flat out worse than what we have already.
i see what you mean, but until they actually take an addon away no reason to moan about the prospect of it happening.
also i dont know how good of a job they will do but i assume like most of blizzards stuff, they will fix it and add as they go. i dont think things should be released until finished also though.
If they made the game show the information in a better way without addons, but still giving us the option to use addons, that would be the best way to go. They have to be very careful when designing, though. That includes information and encounters, both. Better, visible and audio telegraphs would cut down on DBM and Weakauras, which I’m for, but removing the functionality of those addons entirely would be a huge loss. Especially if what they come up with sucks, and double especially because Weakauras aren’t just used for combat.
A soft-footed approach is best in this situation, not a heavy hand.
Hasn’t it been established only a bakers dozen could be affected out of countless thousands of addons? Many of which break the game, by the by. Do people know about google anymore or do we just spout off now based on raw emotion?
