Do NOT bring back Personal Loot

I’ve been seeing a lot of threads as of late about group loot and to bring back personal loot. I’m here to say BS to all of that and to never bring back that god awful loot system ever again.

Personal Loot was horrific for the game.

No one wants to down all the bosses in an entire raid and never see a single piece of loot drop, it’s a very awful feeling and defeats the purpose of an MMORPG. Even if I don’t win anything, it’s a lot better to have the feeling of right clicking the boss and seeing all the cool drops that everyone is bidding on.

For those that are complaining about ninja looting in LFR and such…how is that even possible? You cannot ninja loot something that your class uses and actually needs. People are just winning the rolls fair and square and it’s honestly no different that self-rolling on personal loot where you weren’t going get anything 80% of the time anyways.

One thing I will argue for is that bad luck tokens need to come back. Like I totally understand that the vault was supposed to be a replacement for bad luck in raids/dungeons, but it’s actually the worse replacement. Yes, you can get more options depending on how much you play the game but it’s still random AF. Whereas with the tokens, you could fish more precisely on bosses that you actually needed loot from.

I’ve been running non-stop Mythic+ for a while now and honestly, I can’t even remember the last time I got a piece of loot. Most of my gear has come from sources like crafting or world quests. Personal loot in Mythic+ needs to be removed as well, it sucks. Someone told me today at the end of a run that they ran 15 Mythic+ dungeons in a row and never had a single drop.

How is that okay?

Loot could be so easy. Just give everyone the same amount of tokens for killing bosses, and have vendors that sell all the gear for the right amount of tokens.

I’d love this, honestly so tired of the RNG. Rather set paths, with set goals, and no frustration over unfairness or time being wasted etc

i do love and hate the GL i can see the gear and have a chance to roll on it
with PL i get money thats it lol

For example, every M+ run gives 2 pieces of gear for 5 people, so everyone would get tokens equivalent to 2/5 = 0.4 pieces of gear. After three runs, everyone gets a guaranteed piece.

Compare to a system which can drop loot nobody can even put on, lol.

Group loot does not fix this, don’t be delusional.

Your reasoning is just as psychological as everyone’s for wanting it to go away.

They are equally ridiculous.

I don’t care what they do but that’s not a good reason

I feel like I would do more content, knowing I would get stuff for it. Right now there’s a big lack of motivation, especially when you’re on an unlucky streak and not getting loot. You feel like “why am I here?” “why am I doing this?” makes me do things like get KSM or AOTC then just get off the hamster wheel even if I am not fully geared, because I just don’t enjoy trying to get every piece only for next patch to make it all worthless anyway lol

You’re literally describing the old JP/VP system. It was good and I have no idea why it was canned.

It wasn’t every slot though, it needed work. But I do miss it.

Yeah. I love it in Wrath, you just kill bosses with your raid and you get guaranteed awesome gear. I think they took it away because the RNG also gives us duplicate pieces and gear that’s not an upgrade, increasing time played to get to a great gear level. The more time we play WoW, the more likely we are to talk about it with friends, be seen playing WoW, and buy shop items.

I think they could just let gearing be fast and fun, I would welcome token gearing. No timegating, no RNG, just guaranteed fair rewards.

How so? If one or two pieces is guaranteed in mythic+ via group loot, how is that no different? With personal loot nothing ever drops, with group loot you at least know something will be there at the end!

well with PL you do get something gold lol

Personal loot is the only appropriate loot type for random queued content. It is the only appropriate loot type for pug groups.

Group loot as it is currently implemented allows almost everybody to roll need on everything. And they do. No doubt you go into LFR just so you can ninja loot items you don’t need from LFR heroes you want to keep from getting gear.

Yeah, just take away loot from mythic+, so you can play for love of the game only, just like you expect people who do LFR to do.

And the real question is, are you a panda or a worgen?

In the raids I’ve done this expansion, all the bosses I’ve killed so far, I can count on one hand the amount of times I could roll need on a drop. This is when the bosses are dropping about 6 pieces each for our guild.

No, you can’t roll need on everything.

Who wants to beat a boss and see a player who has utterly no intention of using an item win the roll just because they can, and to boot they also roll off and win other items. Other players in dire need of upgrade get nothing, 1 lucky guy gets several items they fully 100% planned from the outset to dump on a vendor for some free gp.

Yes its been said a billion times PL rolled need for everyone on the back end. You knew without doubt every boss kill someone was getting something whether they wanted it or not. You knew however that you didnt have to watch people actively “flip the bird” so tp speak just because a little dice button lit up.

This, in the current era in which blizzard felt it necessary to make every single player click “Agree” to a so-called “social contract”. While turning around and letting players actively make the conscious decision to be anti social in the most anti-social prone environment in the game. Maybe second most anti social, due to pvp being pvp.

Except now people are dishonestly rolling. When it was in the back end and no one saw, no one was accusing the guy of hitting need on the piece 100 ilvls lower then they have equipped. There is no “need” for someone to say “i need that” on something thats utterly catastrophically inferior to their current. Just because the dice say yes doesnt mean they “need” and mosty certaintly isnt “honest”.

I’d feel so much better losing a simple stealth rng roll to someone 100 ilvls better than seeing that guy go “stuff you low gear peeps!”. One situation is “blehh nothing, next week maybe”. The other is “what a jerk he doesnt need that just wants to come in here, show off and troll”.

That would just make people farm M+ like mad, and be geared in one week

Okay? And? People farm M+ like mad now to get geared in a week. They would still have to use something like valor to upgrade the gear to the highest ilvl, and could only use tokens of the quality that their key level gives them.

Mplus is still PL btw

Your entire post reeks of spoiled brat entitlement.
