Do non raiders have a place in classic?

If someone doesn’t raid is anyone going to care about them? Since they’ll be undergeared compared to everyone else and raiding is the only way to get gear? If someone isn’t able to raid but wants to do dungeons and BGs are people going to ridicule them and deny them from groups?

You can always pick up groups as people will make plenty of alts.

definitely. dungeon and pvp players are always going to be welcome, though if you want to get into a premade battleground you may have a rough time.

Yes and no. Yes if you just pve casual. No if you take pvp serious.

Raiding is harder in vanilla, not because of mechanics but due to the huge preparation time (consumable farming + world buffs), the chaos of organizing 40 people and the small number of loot drops per boss (no personal loot either). Very few people will actually even see Nax. I suspect the majority of the player base won’t raid, at least not seriously.

You can get some decent gear from dungeons, especially dire maul in phase 2. There are some very nice epics from Alterac Valley reputation. WSG / AB rep too but those take longer. There are crafted epics and some fantastic blue / purple sets from the pvp honor grind if you’re so inclined.

Oh and argent dawn rep + darkmoon faire have some good gear too.

I don’t understand your question, and maybe you don’t either. If they aren’t going to raid, why would they or anyone else care if they aren’t geared for raiding. Its kind of like i don’t have a tennis racket. Do i care? No. I don’t play tennis or even want to, neither do my friends

Please take this with a grain of salt because these are 14 year old memories, but I think so. Real life wrecked me so I was not able to join my friends around the time of ZG and I was only able to come back after AQ was out. My gear was a hodgepodge of random rank 1-7 gear and rep stuff from AV/AB rep. I remember being able to still hold my own against most players and still do well in the random duels outside of Stormwind.

When you combine that with the fact that loot is not handed out like candy (only a few out of 40/20 will see gear every run) and not everyone is going to raid hardcore Retail style, I don’t think you’re going to see a sea of top of the line gear everywhere you look. I believe the gap in ilvl between raids back then wasn’t so severe as it is now as well.

Dungeons don’t require raiding gear to be completed, so non-raiders can enjoy them to their heart’s content.

As for BGs, if you’re solo-queueing, they can’t -deny- you entry and I doubt solo-queuers would care much about your gear anyways. The people who care about their rankings will be running pre-mades.

And if you’re looking to join pre-mades, I’m sure there will be plenty of Casual folks eager to join just for fun rather than honor grind. There’s plenty to do in Classic for a Casual player, it’s a big open sandbox, go wild!

Noob q: all bgs are premade in classic?

Only the hyper-elistist raiders will care if you have blues and greens if all you’re doing is running 5 mans and UBRS, and they rarely run those instances.

You’re golden.

A lot of people play wow to make friends,
Plenty of non raiding guilds

Some people pvp, some do dungeons

Some just log on to relax and chat with friends

Play your own way

yes more so in Classic than BFA, lot of casuals in Classic. Welcome!

My endgame is going to be playing the ah and getting tons of gold to buy gear and stuff. I’m not planning on raiding at all.

Edit: maybe I’ll make an exception for ZG.

Yeah, kinda confused by this question. Raiders aren’t going to care about what you do until you try to, raid. If you have no intentions of raiding, you won’t be trying to get into Raids; therefor they aren’t going to care about you or you being undergeared.

There are other ways of getting gear appropriate to your playstyle through crafting.

I wouldn’t consider Classic worth it unless you’re a raider and/or you enjoy leveling. A non-raider is going to be extremely bored once you reach 60. Like maybe you could gank Redridge, but you’ll get dumpstered by the raiders as soon as they show up anyway.

That’s a long ways off. But even then, there’s always room and love in Classic for casual players. Not everyone raids and not everyone who raids bothers with dungeons.

Battlegrounds aren’t raids so you can always do those too.

I had a friend who only did the auction house. Literally. He was a great friend.

Remember to take your time getting to 60. It’s there you will make friends and likely find similar minded friends.

In Vanilla, my pally went through AQ with blue bracers. Never was able to get better than the tier .5 ones for whatever reason. He did just fine. By Naxx, I was playing a lock, yet my guild would still beg me to bring my pally with his blue bracers.

Just consider that…gear dependent yet much less so, from my memory. More casual friendly I think.

No, not even close.

Not really. Once you get your BIS set from dungeons, you’re going to steamrolled in PvP by the people who raid. Once ZG comes out, I’m pretty sure that’s when they’re adding the dungeon set, so you can farm that and do the upgrades (which will involve SOME raiding though for the upgrades).

But ultimately no, not really. There’s stuff you can do on your own, but there’s only so much of it.

The people saying that there’s more to do in classic than BfA have clearly never played classic.
