Do mail heirlooms become leather for hunters/shammies under level 40?

Hi,

If I get a mail heirloom for my hunter, will it get scaled down to a leather heirloom? Since hunters can only wear leather below level 40.

Yes, send mail heirlooms for Hunter/Shamans and plate heirlooms for Warrior/Paladin/DK.

The armor requirements don’t apply to the heirlooms if the class can later use that armor type.

Yes.

Plate would be mail until the class reaches the level to wear plate then the heirloom would turn into plate.

Mail would turn into leather until the hunter can wear mail.
