Do level 50+ people go to level 50 next expansion?

Anyone know if level 50+ people just get knocked to level 50 next expansion? And Shadowlands shuffled back into the deck beside BFA, Legion and the rest?

Just wondering if our level 50-ish toons are okay to hop into new expansions if they sat out a current expansion.

Nobody knows with these people. I thought levels were the one thing that would be permanent but here we are, again, at level 60 :woman_shrugging:

They flop up and down our characters’ stats so much, my poor gnomes must feel like they’re in a washing machine.

Eh? They haven’t announced a new level squish, so I don’t know why you’d assume anything would change for those characters.

It could be they require you to level through Shadowlands on a fresh level 1 (or whatever level you finish Exile’s Reach at) like they do for BfA now, and put everything else on Chromie Time for people who have already done it. /shrug

Well they smashed ALL the other expansions back to level 10-50 levelling zones. So it made a kind of sense, they’d continue doing that to ended expansions going forward. I was mostly just checking if anyone heard any official info about it.

The issue with levelling through 10 levels of each expansion was a broken levelling experience where folks would bounce through a random zone of each expansion every 10 levels on the way to the current expansion.

Heck, the way levelling is now, with full heirlooms, I was finishing redridge mountains at level 30, then half a zone and a few artifact weapons of Legion by level 45. Probably should’ve jus started Legion at level 10. Too much nostalgia value in westfall and redridge though.

We all get put back to level one. And either Northshire fighting over kobolds or Valley of Trials clicking madly at the cacti.

Good stuff.

I always just stood by one cactus and clicked madly until it respawned several times. Same for the fire wood in eastvale logging camp. Just no other way to get the stuff with 50 players running around on a Saturday afternoon.

Before the next expansion launches Blizzard will add SL into the base game. When that happens is anyone’s guess. I believe it will be Aug-Nov 2022. The max level for base game players will be 60. Next expansions level limit will be either 65 or 70.

At this point, they are rumored to have the process down, so there’s no telling. It would be kinda cool. Would be cooler if they don’t murder the fun stuff when they do.

I’d imagine the next cap, assuming there will be a 10.0 at this point. Would be 70 again?

I’d highly doubt they’d keep resetting back to 50 - 60 every time.

I’ll bet you 500 quatloos that it’ll be 1-50 BfA, 50-60 SL, then 60 to whatever in the new zones.

I really hope not.

Yeah probably.

But like I said, I can also see them extending Chromie Time to 60 for those who have already done it.

No official word yet, we still have no info at all on what their future plans are for the next expansion.

Blizz basically has two options for leveling. They can either go up to 70 and onwards or reset it again and move SL to the 1-50 legacy range and have 10.0 be the new 50-60.

Which people might feel irked about, but on the other hand going to 70+ will eventually just repeat the same problem that needed the squish to begin with. So we’ll find out soon enough!

We don’t really know anything about the next expansion but I highly doubt there will be another level “adjustment” this soon.

I enjoyed that. Now I can hang out at chromie on my characters in Org because leveling is so boring because they removed the sense of progression that made it meaningful, rather than just some kind of hazing.

They’re obviously doing yet another stat squish, especially since they keep making the power level ceilings higher and higher.
