I was complaining about getting mastery stats on my vault gear and my friend told me that depending on your spec, that determines what stats you get. Is this true? I’d be extremely upset considering mastery is said to be avoided if possible as a DH.
Not really. If you pull up the adventure guide and look at gear that drops for vengeance vs havoc you can see the loot tables available to you. It doesn’t just randomly generate stats on the fly. From my experience the only differences in loot between the 2 specs (not counting conduits or memories) is trinkets. I haven’t found a boss that dropped for example, a chest piece for only 1 spec, even if it is awful for havoc, it’s still in the loot table.
It’s probably more relevant on classes that have different primary stats for different specs.
