Do I need sub to play DF if I already bought the expansion?

Hi I am new in this game, the subscription is so confusing. Could someone help?

unfortunately you have to buy the current expansions as they come out then pay a subscription. The sub gives you access to the same game in 4 flavors: hardcore classic, season of discovery classic, wotlk classic(soon to be cataclysm classic), and the current expansion dragonflight. regardless of flavor you’re still eating a sub. hope this helped!

edit: you dont NEED to buy the current xpac to play the classic modes, just the sub.
