If you drop engineering you can’t wear the goggles, so maybe find someone to craft those mog weapons or check the auction houses. If they’re hard to find/old patterns, search the auction houses on other realms and if you find what you’re looking for, create a character to buy them on that realm. It’ll have to be able to equip the weapons so they’ll become moggable for you, plus it’ll depend on the item level of the weapons. Dks are good for that as they’re at least half way to max level.
You could do both and not have a gathering profession, which would make it more difficult for blacksmithing as you’ll need a lot of ore than for engineering, which uses gathered items from multiple sources.
I would make a new character for blacksmithing. A warrior for easy transmogging.
Needing various professions was how I ended up with my original six characters. So glad.
Engi/Alch master race
If you’re just after 'mogs, this would be my recommendation as well. Most mogs are shared but most of the fun/useful things from engineering can only be used by an engineer so keeping it and having an alt BS will give you the best of both worlds.
I maxed out engineering in BFA, but in day one of shadowlands I read what Shadowland engineering had in it, laughed, and walked away never to touch it.
Short answer is no. I love the wormhole generator on most of my alts.
Long answer is if you have an extra million gold or two to set up the Blacksmithing to make money, then ok. Kinda late in the expansion now.
All of my characters are engineering and alchemy. Oribos AH, the switch in DoS, and 2 hour flasks are literally the best things available from professions in System Lands.
And that’s just terrible.
Honestly, I think Engineering is probably the profession that offers the most utility. Especially when you factor in the Wormhole Generators.
Annnd… Like most Wormhole Generators, the Shadowlands Wormhole Generator is on a 15 minute CD.
I’ll be glad when they fix the Northrend one… 4 hours is ridiculous.
It’s rare that I go to Northrend even once a week. But that’s what the Kirin Tor ring is for.
If you just want mogs, now is a good time to go Eng/BS. Ore is probably as cheap as it’s going to get. I’ve got thousands of each type of ore in my guild bank, because I’m going for the “Mine 100,000 ore” guild achievement.
PLEASE tell me someone is helping you, lol!
For non-gold making Engi is always the pick. Best utility by far.
For gold making Blacksmithing >>> Engi it’s not even close.
Get alts and get all professions
