Okay, with the latest patch my recount is down, but my dps has NEVER been very good. I hit 50 yesterday and farmed all the iLvl 100 Scourge gear (with a few iLvl 110 pieces from the Icecrown rares) and hit up Blightcaller for a dagger, but have not seen my dps recount since then due to the update. Prior to that, at about level 48-49 I was pulling a mindnumbingly bad 200 dps. The healer was even kicking my butt in most dungeons. Granted, I had terribad gear, but I just went and fought some lvl 50 mobs around Boralus and I still don’t feel like I’m breaking any records. Quite the contrary. I feel like I’m barely staying alive.
Maybe it’s my rotation. Here’s my current rotation:
With Deadly Poisons applied
Stealth
Cheap Shot OR Garrote
Vendetta if rare or boss
Mutilate/Shiv to 5 combo points
Rupture if early in the fight OR Slice and Dice
back to 5 combos with Mut/Shiv
Finisher.
I’m missing something because I use Evasion and Crimson Vial ALOT! I seem to need to Vanish more than I should. Do I just suck? That’s kinda what I’m thinking at this point. I should be crushing regular lvl 50 mobs and I’m not. Isn’t there a website that talks about rotations?
I need to see your rogue to look at talents.
However rogue is one of those specs that is heavily gear dependent to do decent damage.
Openers should be
Garrote
Cheap shot
Rupture
Mutilate to 4 combo points
Envenom.
SnD isn’t important until you’re fighting a rare as most mobs aren’t going to be alive long enough to make it worth it.
If you have left over cp between mobs while you’re stealthed then you could snd for the opener.
You should look up infectious gaming on YouTube. He’s an eu rogue that puts guides and stuff together and is 100% rogue.
Another good channel is the red rogue.
Also the rogue discord has a lot of information and friendly people giving advice.

It should also be noted that I am NOT a raider. I’m a leveler/explorer that will do the occasional 5 man. My main concern is just killing world mobs (and multiple world mobs) fast enough to not die. It would be nice to not be 5th in the dps chart when doing a 5 man, tho.
Your spec is a big issue.

Mfd or vigor (mfd is better for open world)
Cheat death/Leech (Leech for open world)
Prey on the weak
Alacrity
Poison bomb

Single target that works much better. Thank you. If I accidentally grab another mob or two, things get dicey. Is that normal? I seem VERY squishy.
Rogues are usually very squishy without gear so yes that’s normal.
You’re opener is kinda funky. I’d spec 1 2 3 1 1 1 1 for the 7 talents according to what type fights you’re doing. Master poisoner over Elaborate Planning@ because I know you’re not keeping the EP buff up on anything but a Boss enemy. Subterfuge lets you garrote multiple targets and is the go to talent. Marked for death is the best for short fights, vigor is better for longer fights. There are talents for burst and talents for prolonged fights. I wouldn’t use vendetta until you have all your bleeds and SnD up and are ready to dump some envenoms into a target. you will get the most damage that way.
For world content, I suggest Leeching Poison instead of Cheat Death. It’s much better for general survivability.

I never felt the leech as high enough personally.
Because it’s my preferred choice and I have been using it for a long time, I definitely notice when I don’t have it.

You should go to the icy veins website and read their class guide. It tells you everything about talents, rotations, BiS, etc.
for one your opener didnt even include envenom, i play subtley rogue but i know for damn sure that if ur not using CP on ur finishing move ur not going to be doing s*** for dmg. as a sub rogue my number one dps spell is eviscerate, which is pretty much equivalent to your envenom, you need to be hitting mobs with 5 CP envenoms, thats where ur damage is, besides your bleeds, you HAVE to keep your bleeds active.
Rogue is in a bad state right now. We are constantly at the bottom of the barrel for mythic+ and raids.
