Do I buy Shadowlands?

So, my criteria is that I am a long time player who returned after several years. I played classic for a while last, and since resubbing, I am having a great time.

I created a new account because I felt that my old account was a mess of old characters, old plans and half finished projects. In particular, also, I did not want to have the option of using heirlooms. I wanted to experience enjoyment in each equipment upgrade, and even the (barely in retail) accomplishment of getting a mount, etc.

Shadowlands is on sale - should I upgrade my old or new account, or spend a considerable amount of time raising alts to level 50 and accepting that as my max level for a while. I am also concerned that if I get Shadowlands - the worst thing that always happens to me in Wow: greed is going to take hold again.

Anybody playing Wow as a max level 50 game, or have some ideas why some new features in Shadowlands would be worth it?

So Shadowlands has had some hit or miss features implemented into the game, and it’s really down to you if you’ll actually enjoy it.

I don’t know what kind of player you are or the content you enjoy, but Shadowlands to me is a decent expansion thus far. I have some gripes with it, but I’ve been enjoying running raids and doing dungeons here and there. The world content is currently a bit on the boring side, and Torghast is in desperate need of a reward structure, but if you like climbing the tower and building your character with these crazy powers, then all the power to you.

It’s a bit hard to say if you’ll like Shadowlands, but I personally will say that if anything, the dungeons have been fun and I’m itching to get into pushing keys, and raiding has been fun as well with some pretty cool bosses like Denathrius. (That being said take what I say with a grain of salt because I hear Mythic Nathria has been a bit of a nightmare for some guilds)

Finally, and I don’t have a whole ton of knowledge on this, but PvP appears to be having a bit of a resurgence, but there are balancing issues.

I hope I was helpful.

But in the scenario which you don’t find anything I listed interesting, I think it’s definitely a good idea to revisit old expansions. Especially Legion and the Suramar story. (Unless you already did that. I don’t know if you stopped playing in Legion)

first up, i wanted to say that you’re probably only going to get biased responses from the people who troll the forum 24/7 to complain about how bad the game is (while they continue to maintain multiple accounts, go figure!) :stuck_out_tongue:

heirlooms have had quite a considerable change, they no longer have XP baked into them.
so if that was one of the things which was keeping you away from the original account, it probably won’t be as much of an issue for you now.

if you’ve got years of content to catch up on, you’ll have no problem keeping yourself entertained without the current expansion.

…if you feel like you might stick around for a while, then it won’t hurt to buy the expansion while it’s on sale.

Greed?
And depends what you like to do. If you don’t raid, M+ or PVP then probably wait it out. It’s not THAT big of a drop for a sale.

You’re just gonna have your butthole mashed in by folks who no-lifed this game from release.

Especially in PvP.

Catch-up is rough.

I think it’s worth a purchase it has really cool art and some new mounts you can easily get a couple of weeks playtime even if you don’t do group content.

well, i buy every xpac, for the wife… Until this one… i bought base for myself and well she was really PO’d at the Artifact debacle and hasnt played… sad really, she missed playing games so much though she bought an Oculus… but wont touch WOW because again 4 months grinding Artifact for it to be discontinued… Now i have 1.75 accounts, I use at my liesure, but again, my leisure is when she isnt around… Which isnt often. Therefore Im at an impasse and my toons are getting behind… So, they really cut off couples who are, well um, not easily morphable into change… So think about that a bit as something no one welse pointed out… (I should be getting gifts more frequently for paying for two accounts! >.<,)

There’s fun to be had, for sure. The end game is pretty much the same as it has been the last few expansions, if you’ve played any of them. Meaning that there’s certainly a grind, but that grind is rewarded with the feeling of progression, etc.

Besides that, the game is certainly better than it has been in certain areas. The story’s still kinda cheesy IMO, but there’s bits and pieces that make you go “huh, that’s kinda interesting”. You know, standard fantasy fluff. Combat is still fun, and leveling is definitely more enjoyable than it ever has been. Overall, I’d recommend subbing again if you have the time and money, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up on a totally different endgame experience than what’s been out there the past few years.

But there’s definitely a lot of fun to be had, for sure.

uh already then…

thank you Blizz! (they sent a gift!)

Cant say someones not listening!

(the eyes and ears are all around!)

I recently came back to the game after taking Legion and BFA off, within a week I cancelled my sub. SL is an awful expansion for many reasons. I wouldn’t bother.

If you like the game sure. Not sure why you would buy an expansion if you don’t like it.

So, you were right😂

Unless it’s on sale for a big discount don’t bother. Wait for it to become free with the next expansion…hic!

they must have all been too busy trolling the “sale HA HA HA” thread to notice this one :stuck_out_tongue:

Im new in wow, this is my first expansion, the grinding is not a lot and the engame is really funny if you have a good guild, i would say the only problem is balancing classes but the other things… I love it!

Sorry if my english is not great im hispanic speaker :stuck_out_tongue:

WoW is still WoW. Shadowlands is the new WoW. Retail WoW concentrates on endgame.

If you are into it like Mythic+ (5-man dungeons) progression from M+0, all the way to M+15, you would love it.

If you are into like Raiding, from Normal then Heroic then Mythic, you would love it.

If you into PvP, it’s not that bad.

If you are not gonna do the main content: Dungeons, Raids or PvP, you might not have fun things to do and you would get bored.

BUt me, I love dungeons and I love Raid which I would do later on… I am having a blast.

Yes, you do buy Shadowlands.

Don’t put too much trust into everything you read here on the Forums, from people losing their minds over small things.

Get it, base your own feelings on it. After all, it’s your money, if you find it enjoyable then it’s worth it. Fun is subjective, and yours may be very different than mine, and so on.

So I say go for it, and have an adventure.

All up to you, but I’d say no.
