You’d go in to Epic BGs expecting them to be, well, epic. Huge clashes like in the old days, bodies just slamming into each other over an objective.
That happens once per Epic BG, if you’re lucky. Rest of it is either leaving or waiting until you win/lose. The game is decided in the first two minutes.
WG and Ashran revolve around Sunken Ring/AoC. Lose either you lose half your team if you’re not among the ones leaving and wait 10-30 minutes for the victory or defeat, depending on if you got the objective or not.
Isle of Conquest is by far the worst in this regard. Hanger is the go-to objective and losing the initial Hanger fight means losing the game. I have not seen a single come back victory once Hanger is lost. This is made worse as Horde have to fight uphill for it.
It isn’t even so much losing as much as it is having almost the entire BG leave within minutes of the game starting. Even if you tough it out and eat the L the entire game is waiting for people to backfill into a loss, and a team that is now entirely focused on fighting amongst themselves.
I’m of the opinion Epic BGs need to be entirely redone. The point is to have huge teams clashing against one another, but again, this happens once. Zero times if you’re on AV which is basically a zerg.
Oddly enough AV becomes the most tolerable just because either way the game is over quickly without a huge conflict. Which I feel goes against the entire point.
