That’s kind of what I was hoping to express. The objectives don’t have any intrinsic value, however their importance is how they contribute to the game overall. When you have players who only care about the quickest road to victory the maps all suck because the game devolves into a mindless slog.
That said, when you have two teams clashing against each other tactically with pushes and counter pushes, collecting bonus objectives, and generally playing the full scope of the game it’s awesome!
The conceit is that these games are terribly rare, however, having lived through the times when these were the Epic Battlegrounds and were designed to last for a long time, they were fun as hell!
So, I digress, the maps don’t suck, the players do.
