Title, obviously got a couple in raid, Some friends were telling me they shouldnt matter week 1 since were not ranked yet though?

they will impact your first weeks rank. ie; say you got enough honor to hit rank 3, but then the dhk reduces it and now you only get to rank 2 or 80% through rank 1.
If you get too many dhk’s you’ll just be stuck rankless forever.

The OP is correct, it won’t effect first week rank.
DKs reduce your current rank points by a specific amount immediately after they occur. It’s not based on the weekly reset, nor some daily reset people in the comments have mentioned. It’s immediate and impacts your rank points, not honor.
You only gain rank points after the weekly reset. Which is calculated based on your contribution points compared to everyone else on your server. Based on the amount of rank points that can be awarded to people in the top bracket, it’s possible to reach rank 4, after the first weekly reset because there’s no decay.
So since this is the first week, everyone currently has 0 rank points. Therefore, there is no effect from DKs this week.
Later on, DKs will become detrimental to people ranking. It will set you back in your progress.
1 DK = -100 rank points, effective immediately

DHKs immediately deduct 100 RP from your current rank. Since you are at 0 RP till after the first weeks calculations, DHKs have no effect on your week 1 ranking.
RP = Rank Points, which is how your current rank is calculated you need 2000 to hit rank 2 and 5000 to hit rank 3. They are calculated based on your CP(honor) rankings each week and what the weekly decay is on.

If you do not have any RP, no. DKs will immediately remove RP from you. So, say you got 500 HKs today, if you get a DK might as well kiss those goodbye. If you’re at 0 HKs and decide to raid a city and get a ton of DKs it won’t matter since you are at 0 already.
No Xiokar, that is not how it works. You don’t get RP till AFTER the week ends.

Did Blizzard not say that calculations are happening instantly now? I thought I read that somewhere.
Do you have Rank Points? No. If you did, you would be ranked.

Kills only matter to make sure you get put into the ranking for the week. You need 15 hks in a week to be put into the ranking for that week. However they are not used for any calculations of RP.
Honor points are how you are ranked and what all the calculations are based off.
It does not.

Yes dishonorable kills do effect you because they go towards the current week
No, they don’t go towards your current week, they are a INSTANT penalty to your RANK POINTS.
We do not have RANK POINTS yet!
Dishonorable kills remove your rank points, not your contribution points. Since rank points are only calculated based on Contribution points at weekly reset, there’s no impact they have on the first week.
