I slowly got to lvl 7 in the delves but today I decided to try a lvl 8. When I tried to go in it made me do a lvl 4 then wanted a lvl 5. So did they reset and I have to start a lower lvl each time?
They do not reset, except when there is a new season. Im guessing the last time you did a 7 was during season 1. Now that season 2 has started, you have to start over at Tier 4.

OK now I know. Thanks a ton for the info. They also seem a bit harder than the last time I did those lvls.

Just ran into this myself. I do not have the will to re-do all the delves from rank 4 back up again so I can do 11s and get rewards I might actually want. Just no respect for player’s time at all.
Especially since on the first week of undermine it let me queue directly into a T11… or at least it said it did, but now it is forcing re-running from scratch. Probably yet another glitch.
Season 1 ran for about a week after Undermine launched.

It’s progression content. Did you immediately jump into +15s in M+ or Mythic raid this season?
God forbid you progress through progression content. 
No problem with progressing through progression. Re-progressing through progression you already progressed through…not the same thing. Kinda like if a new raid opens you have to go back and re-do the prior raid on LFR, normal, heroic and mythic before you can go into the new raid.
That’s not at all like happened. It’d be absurd if it was at all the case, but all that happened here is the new season of endgame content dropped and you started off at the beginning of progression. Similarly, your io and pvp rank reset, your key downgraded, and your raid buffs didn’t carry over from the previous raid to the new one.

You mean like M+? Or new Delves or Delves with new stories?
There’s a competitive aspect to M+ and pvp that is not true for delves. M+ you can also just jump into anyone’s high key and go and will just get a higher key for next week. But delve? Come on. It’s supposed to be a side-event fun feature - it’s not supposed to be just another version of M+.
I did all the new delves the 1st week, at the highest tier - before this reset forced replaying the low-tier boring time wasting content… just annoyed that I’ll probably have to waste a couple of hours of time at some point on completely worthless content again, just so I can play the content that I want.
Irrelevant. Delves are a progression end game pillar.
No one is taking you into a +15 week one of the season if you’re too low. You’re still working your way up through some keys.

The content is for better rewards than anything in season one.
You need to run 4 delves in order to unlock T8s. That’s not a couple of hours.
