Monks are the unarmed class.
They just use weapons (either DW or 2H) for a purely gameplay reason, that being that it makes their gear progression and scaling functionally identical to other melee classes.
Well, they had legendary weapons like all classes in legion, and it makes a bit more sense immersion wise to have those instrument of power when you face a demon other than kicking and punching him…hahaha
