I can’t seem to find a clear answer so hoping I can get one here. Does the 5% speed gem work in arena? same with the speed per SL gem?
Just started playing again after a long break. I noticed a bunch of people on ladder dont seem to use them but did last season. WOuld just like some confirmation if these do still in fact work.

the shadowlands gem is speed
i think the main reason some ppl are under the idea that the 5% doesn’t work is because it doesn’t show in speed like the other one does
Correct. I have the addon MonkeySpeed which shows your current movement speed down to the 1 decimal place after the integer.
I’m even running the 3% gem, 5% gem and SL gem and sitting at 121.7% baseline movement speed.
Together with the conduit for Demonic Circle port, I’m at almost 180% movement speed for 6s on my lock. No more people running away behind the pillar!
To me it’s very well worth sacrificing ~1.5% haste for almost 22% baseline movement speed.
Edit: Forgot that my helm has speed on it, tertiary stats don’t work in arenas. So it’s 115.9% or 116% from the enchants and gems which do work in arenas.
I agree. Nobody can convince me that the 5%, 3%, and speed gems aren’t BiS in PvP for everyone.
How do you get 22%?
I’ve got the cloak +3, and gems combined is another +13 for +16% total assuming you have SL gems in the remaining sockets to boost the speed buff from the SL gem.
Speed on armor doesn’t work in rated pvp.
So how do you get from 16 to 21%?
Do domination sockets count for SL speed gem?
Wasn’t there a Druid in the AWC that was just breaking the sound barrier all game

The dom gems don’t count for the shadowlands gems for speed. Just checked

Yes both work in arena. If you have all slots total, including the 5% it comes out to 11 or 13% (can’t remember which off hand).
It’s def worth giving up 2 slots to the speed boosts and then using the other 4 slots for your extra stat of preference.
Ah yeah forgot that my helm has speed on it, in arenas it’s 115.9%.
I believe it was Kubzy. I remember the commentators mentioning something about his speed and how fast he was able to move like that.
