Do an expansion that has nothing to do with the storyline, et. al. Let the Hearthstone folks make it. They make some wild ish over there.
Season of Discovery is kind of this concept.
We already had 2.
Draenor and Shadowlands.
Nobody considers them canon xD
The ninja turtles invade Azeroth and Captain Planet has to save us.
We each get a choice of power grind. Wind, fire, water, earth and heart
World of Warcraft crossover with Starcraft Universe.
And we get Terran, Protos and Zerg transmogs.
Battlecruiser, Carrier, Leviathan ships mounts.
Still beyond me how this hasn’t happened since the franchise is collecting dust.
Yeah? How did SoD tell a new story? I only got to level 10.
Legion 2: Electric Boogaloo featuring Diablo and the Lords of Sin.
IIRC there are bits of new story tied to some of the class runes, seasonal events, and new dungeons, but I believe they’re not really the “non-canon” sort, instead they’re presented as the “things that happened in the background but didn’t affect anything at the time/weren’t witnessed by the original adventurers” sort of retcon.
Many class stories. Gregory and Aeonas for Paladin. Mr L or whatever his name was for Rogue. Priests following in Xalatath’s footsteps (although their plot kind of got 180’d at the end when they find out that they were not supposed to meet Xalatath in the timeline and instead they end up with a book that describes an alternate future than the one planned by the bronze flight). Mages… get to be a nerd and come up with a new spell (one of the worst class plots). Shaman foil a plot by the Twilight’s Hammer. Etc
Actually not etc, I’ll keep going. Warriors meet an ancient god and prove their mettle to them. Warlocks try to rescue a Mage lost during the second war but he turns out to be a Dreadlord. Druid connect with the Wild Gods and it is teased maybe we’d get a Hyjal raid with Dark Troll Loa. I actually haven’t played enough hunter to know what their class narrative is tbh. Did I miss a class?
Make it all canon but just because it is canon doesn’t have to be about Jaina, thrall, Anduin, elves or whatever. Doesn’t even need to be about cosmic wars. Make one about the mean streets of Gadgetzan and their Mafias.
SoD is also with a classic game frame and no thanks to that
Yea but warlocks got a rune that turns shadowbolt into an aoe
Its kinda nice
then those people are dumb. shadowlands and WoD had a good story
I mean people would haaaate this at first.
But personally i think its worth a shot. It could be bronze dragon alternate timeline stuff so it still makes sense in lore.
Maybe not whole xpacs but big patches.
Boooo! Booo I say!!
omg
If Blizzard ever makes an actual Warcraft/Starcraft crossover that we can play?
I’ll be bankrupt immediately, with ZERO REGRETS.
People like you make me question if I’m truly a humanist.
people like you make me question if you actually have your own opinions or just listen to whatever streamer. WoD had a good story that set up for legion really well (not saying it was a good xpac btw ) shadowlands was good all around for anyone who wasnt uber casual. if you liked raiding keys etc it was really good
Best leveling story of any expansion ever. That said they dropped the ball post-launch. They stapled a “and then everyone cheered” ending onto the expansion when it’s missing its middle act. Actual disaster.
An non canon expansion where they can go all out and make it fun

Oh and no overly emotional main characters
