DnD is dropping the term " RACE" WoW should do the same

Nightelf is still a race of Elves :stuck_out_tongue:

From now on Night Elves will be referred to as Grape Elves.
Both are purple.
Both are Juicy.
Both make whine (wine) when squeezed.

Ok but Stormwind Humans and Kul’tiran Humans aren’t different species though. Neither Ironforge Dwarves and Dark Iron, neither Draenei and Lightforged Draenei, neither Zandalari and Darkspears, neither Mag’har and Orcs, or blood elves, high elves and void elves. Or Mulgore and Highmountain Taurens.

Damn, WoW has a lot of different races now that I think about it.

The word race has been cancelled in DnD. They explained that in the OP.

All of you mentioning these mixes are disputed by the fact lions and tigers can breed.

They are still different species to anyone above a thermostat IQ.

The word ā€œraceā€ in the context of WoW is perfectly fine, and there also wasn’t really any need for DnD to remove it either.

Race as an RPG term isn’t really the same ā€œraceā€ as it’s used in the real world.

Common sense.

Wolf of Warcraft was built upon races to remove that term would be a really stupid idea rebranding things actually hurt companies in the long run.

I’m not disagreeing with you, fully. I just… you know… like… It’s nice that everyone let’s elves feel like they are equal to the other races. To call them a race feels like we’re giving them too much credit. ā€œBreedā€ perhaps?

Science and Math too

General Discussion experts are on the case to tackle this very important and highly controversial debate.

So a black bear and polar bear aren’t different species …?

Your knee-jerk outrage is bigger than the issue itself.

As-is everything with so-called ā€˜cancel culture’.

In reality, it’s not an issue whatsoever.

Just a loud minority is upset because one word is being exchanged for another. That’s the literal issue, lol. What is there to be upset about?

I just find this the lesser of weird decisions that Hasbro WOTC has don’t in the past month.

Humans are literally part of the kingdom Animalia. That makes us animals. The idea that we are somehow set apart from every other living thing on this planet instead of being a part of the world’s ecosystems is a core misconception that has led to serious environmental damage.

Anyway, that’s a major tangent.

It doesn’t really happen in a natural environment, as those populations are usually genetically and geographically isolated. The offspring are also generally short-lived and infertile.

This whole thread is brushing up against a long-standing debate in biology and ecology, though, as to how exactly to define ā€œspeciesā€.

Short-lived, generally unsuccessful offspring who themselves cannot reproduce. Not a comparison of apples.

Why change the word if it’s a non issue?

Ok cool… once again. I suggest you never refer to someone as a animal.

It’s a FAFO situation.

i think it would be nice to just have an old fashioned tolkien lore’esque story, like back in the days imo…innocent and neutral without getting too involved on these complex social issues :100:

I have to assume you are deliberately misunderstanding my posts at this point.
