This is the first DMF where I cannot do the profession quests. Something ain’t right
DMF has never been bi-weekly, it seems internally all of the one-off quests for the event are coded to reset after a month, rather than specifically when the Faire returns (which used to be, of course… every month)
Intuitively once they made the faire happen twice as often, it stands to reason the profession and dungeon/pvp turn-ins would also reset with it, but Blizzard has not done so and not made any statement as to whether this is intentional or something they overlooked.
Not a ‘bug’ but definitely something Blizzard should have either changed alongside making the faire twice as frequent, or told the community that the one-time quests are intentionally kept monthly.
We have already seen it not reset for two DMFs in a row before they fixed it for last one. There is an issue with the code that goes beyond the two week cadence. For the first DMF also there was a bug where people were able to do the quests TWICE in one DMF week period. Its very disappointing since this is one of my fav elements of Cata.
If you can’t do the quests, you have already done them this month.
WoW has several quests that reset on the first of each month: Consortium membership benefits and the DMF profession quests are just a couple examples.
DMF was always meant to begin after the first of the month and be done well before the end of the month, so always resetting on the 1st made sense. To be more explicit, the quest reset is tied to the month and not to the spawning of the DMF. While Blizzard messed with the timing of the DMF in Cata Classic to make it available more often, I have not seen any indication they planned to change the once per month quests at all (please do point me to any Blizzard post that says otherwise though).
If you did the quests at the end of May during the first Faire, you were good for May because that was your only option.
For June, you had 3 chances: 1st being the last day of the first Faire, 16th-22nd for the second (some people claimed it didn’t reset here because they did the quests on the 1st), or 30th being the first day of the third (again, some claimed it didn’t reset here because it again wasn’t yet a new month). If you tried to “cheat” (very loosely used term there), you never got any advantage because you were still limited to once per month. Blizzard fixed the quest reset during the prior Faire because it magically became a new month as we entered July.
For July, you again have 3 chances to do the monthly quests: 1st-6th, 14th-20th (current period), or 28th-31st.
