Not just OP, like super annoying OP, half my group rerolled DK just because of how ridiculous they are lmao. Its kinda hilarious how wild blizzard lets this stuff go in prepatch.
DK will:
Get nerfed hard in pre-patch and suck for the first half of TWW. Season 2 they will be OP again for a few weeks, then nerfed and back to sucking.
OR
Remain nutty until early balance patch season 1, but only after ruining the ladder (think ret/dh), then they suck for the rest of TWW.
Regardless, the entire time they are busted every DK player will say that it is fine, or that they deserve their turn, or some nonsense like that.
Season 1 with hero talents is gonna be pretty funny.
It’s perfectly fine! We have been down so long that we deserve it, anyway!
We’re going to have to find a good excuse for it.
You can’t use the die in a stun thing.
DH and WW share a patent on that one.
UHDK is too much of an outlier and needs some substantial nerfs. Frost DK is strong but doesn’t need heavy nerfs. It would be better to bring underperforming things up to Frost DK level IMO.
every DK player will say that it is fine
It’s not like affliction warlock is weak. It’s strong as well. Not outlier OP, but strong.
are we really ? time to try out fdk now
Good one there
Frost dk has been revered for the entirety of dragonflight as a spec that needs pretty much a whole rework.
With nobody but a very select hand few of people making it work at decent rating with very very specific gotcha comps.
Also had one of the lowest r1 cutoffs of any spec in the entire game if i remember right.
Pretty much what happened in dragonflight. Dk was really good in prepatch and going in and i think on the day of the expansion launch it got buried with all the death strike and will of the necropolis nerfs and also a handful of core dps rotational abilty nerfs to.
What people don’t understand is if you nerf dk damage into the floor and nerf their self healing into the floor you basically have a unplayable class. It has the lowest mobility of any melee in the game and also probably the least amount of non breakable cc.
You realize that this is TWW prepatch and not DF season 4, right?
It’s mobility isn’t actually that bad right now and it will have some of the best mobility for melee in TWW along with having one of the best ranged snares in the game and pulls.
It’s no worse than demon hunter which reigned for two whole seasons. I say let DKs have their fun in a prepatch
They are. But they are not alone. It is also kinda nice. I can play or not. If I have fun I stay logged in. If not I log off immediately with 0 penalty after the not great match ends. No goals to chase so I dont need to log in at all.
so are pres evokers rn
Guys it’s prepatch. Death knights are already getting slapped with damage nerfs in the beta (both unholy and frost) and the tank nerfs will be hitting the dps specs as well.
We all know the routine. Unholy is too strong in PVP, so DKs in general get nerfed. The nerfs impact frost more than unholy, making frost useless
You realize the beta nerfs are live in the prepatch too right?
There are changes in the beta that are not live in the prepatch, so it kind of depends on exactly which class/spec change is being talked about. That said, I’m not 100% sure on how that is applying to DKs.
Wait until AWC. Changes get made quickly once the pros exploit any OP mechanics.
The latest round of beta adjustments are definitely live in the prepatch where dks are concerned.
No the’yre not. You can simply look at the versions and see that beta is different than live. In the latest patch notes that you claim are live Necotic Aura has been removed. But it’s still on live.
10% nerf to all damage is already in the pipeline on beta, was announced on wowhead earlier this week.
IMO the main reason a lot of classes are feeling OP is that our stats no longer have a DR because they are scaled for 80 now not 70. this means a lot of us are essentially temporary supertwinks. and by “us” i am refering to players of other classes in the same stat situation due to end of expac gearing, not just DKs, fire mages are still insta-gibing whole teams in under a second.
That’s the sad part, we have too much hard tangible data on things for blizz to make changes after an AWC.
