DKs and DHs need better eye options

Customizations that need to happen, imo:

  • For Death Knights
1 - Old DK eyes that are blue and not flames
    2 - Red eyes
3 - Sickly greenish yellow eyes
4 - flame option for both the red and green colors
    .

  • For Demon Hunters:
    1 - green eyes that aren’t flames
2 - eyes that are slightly sunken and shaded to show they’re burnt out (both with and without flames)

I purposely gave less options to Demon Hunters, because they also have their blindfold options.

Thoughts?

We need this, i remember seeing some of the original DK eyes in my replays of the rts, and they aren’t frosty flamy glowing eyes, even Arthas had normal eyes in his campaign, which made him indistinguishable from other humans at the start of his campaign in wc3 the scourge of Lordaeron. He only got those trade marks eyes because he merge with Ner’zhul, not because he was a death knight

Bolvar eyes would be clean af on a Dark Iron DK

I am still dreaming that Blizzard will give NE DH that were present at the Night Warrior ceremony the option to use that appearance.

I think Nelfs in general need those options for tattoos in all different shapes and forms.

Mages and Warlocks should be allowed to show their magic affliction with glowing eyes.

More class specific customisation to all, not just the (late) hero classes.

People need to stop asking for alternate Death Knight eye colors just for the sake of it. It’s massively lore breaking, and should never happen.

There’s old DK NPCs with alternate eyes. It’s in the lore.

No, there aren’t. This has already been discussed to death dozens of times in the Death Knight forums. There’s a total of one confirmed Death Knight in game with a different eye color, and that NPC retains their racial eye glow - a simple oversight. Every other example that gets pointed to has an explanation, most often that they aren’t even Death Knights, and are some other form of undead.

It really isn’t. There’s zero lore behind the color of DK eyes to begin with.

  • Most death knights resemble their living selves, though pale and with an unholy light that illuminates their eyes. Others may lack the eye illumination and have tattoos decorating their faces. Death knights that were formerly human may look like Forsaken or even skeletons after some time, examples being Marduk Blackpool, the Black Knight and Lord Darkscythe.

An “unholy light” can be just about anything. And if races can have their eyes change depending on the type of magic, then there’s no reason why DKs can’t either. Half the DKs aren’t even bound by Arthas and Frostmourne anymore.

The DK eyes were updated to reflect what they were supposed to get in the first place

Arthas as the Lich King is a prime example

That be weird since dh don’t have eyes

And that’s not a reason to not have options. Not everyone likes the new glow. And as someone else mentioned:

Yeah, like it’s not weird that we can see without eyes or that we can shot lasers out of non existent eyes

Yes, there is. It’s always been cited as part of the magic that fuels our existence, and Shadowlands compounded on that by saying it comes from The Maw and Death magic specifically. We’re basically extended creations of the Jailor, and his magic, which is why he crafted a mourneblade, and uses runes.

There’s no actual source to this. It’s an observed detail from the game, which is a result of system limitations that prevented NPCs from having eye glows with the facial tattoo skin. Official artwork shows these characters with the same blue eye glow.

The fact that eye glows are linked to magic usage is entirely the point why Death Knights don’t have alternate colors. We’re only fueled by one type of magic. To get a red glow we’d need to be powered by fel magic, green could also be fel or nature (depending on the shade), etc. These things have nothing to do with Death Knights until such a time that the lore gets massively rewritten.

You may as well be asking that Demon Hunters get an icy blue glow, purple, and red just because you think it looks neat. Even though we know it’s supposed to be fel green.

Quote me the lore then.

That’s a source.

Yes it is. And Death Knights use different types of magic.

False. Red is not Fel.

Which is why I literally said: “Sickly greenish yellow eyes”

They absolutely do. Or are you denying the existence of Unholy and Blood?

As I said earlier and you conveniently ignored:

So this argument of “BUT WHERE WE COME FROM” doesn’t even work.

And I’m sorry, but if this can happen due to magic contained within a person:

Then there is zero reason why it can’t be the same for other DKs.

We had the option for eyes and look what we did with them.

Well someone clearly missed the final cinematic from Warcraft 3, there was no limitation there, Arthas clearly could be mistaken for a normal human in his Dk time, The eyes are a result of the merging with Ner’zhul a top of Ice crown glacier

It’s literally right there.

“Just trust me, bro.”

Use =/= fueled by. We exist because of Death magic, and that manifests in our eye glow. We don’t even channel magic as Death Knights, we use runes. So this doesn’t work no matter what.

You’re right, Fel Orcs and the Orcs that drank fel demon blood definitely don’t have red eyes. WCIII got that huge detail wrong.

So? Green isn’t actually a color related to Unholy magic, or eye glow for that matter. The color most associated is actually purple, as Unholy is more of a sub-category to Shadow magic. It’s kind of a misnomer that Unholy got a green icon for the spec, but obviously it’s been in far too long to do anything about it.

That… changes the magic power that fuels us how?

Wat. This doesn’t compute with what you replied to. I literally listed things that are related to certain eye glows, and noted that they are widly unrelated to Death Knights. And you somehow got a denail of Unholy and Blood out of that?

I’m out, this trolling is more committed than I am. Suffice to say, don’t cave to cosmetic options that break the lore just because people want to match pretty colors. Also, missing the entire point of that Bolvar eye change is just chef’s kiss GD gold.
