I see this thread is years old but keeps getting bumped up, my impression from the OP is that they forget that DKs use weapons that aren’t swords a lot of the time, and doing stuff like stabbing into the ground like the Lich King is interesting if your character is using a giant knife but looks weirder if it’s a big bludgeon mace.
Also, I like the weapon being almost secondary in Unholy. It should feel like tapping just a little into the Warlock-powered DKs of old, since we’ll never see those as a proper class.
I get what your saying, but I think the ground stabbing animation still works for a wide variety of weapons. I just use the sword because I like the model.
A death knight can easily use enough force to just stamp the large thing into the ground. Dual wielding DKs would likely sheathe their ofhand to accomplish this motion as well.
Of course… results may vary depending on the weapon.

What armor set is this? I have never seen anything like it.
I was wondering why bloodworms instead of bloodbats or vampire bats.
Would fit very well considering they are making a San’layn hero talent spec.
Also, it seems to be a problem that, considering the upcoming San’layn spec, elven Death Knights aren’t able to take advantage of the dark ranger customization options for red eyes.
Its Anduins model from SL. His model uses the ground stab animation, so the model was used as an example.
Now that I’ve seen the R ability in plunderstorm change into 2 other different “spells” with diff animations, I’m definitely sure they can do something like this in the future. Just keep the same icon and then cycle or randomize through various animations.

It’d be nice if we could get some decent sound effects. Frost’s isn’t too bad, but the rest of it really lacks any sort of audio impact.
4 years since this post of awesome ideas and still feeling just as visually and audibly boring in game.
We should be able to collect these models by controlling undead them. It would be so much fun as unholy to do that.
Im really hoping that Blizzard comes up with something similar to Warlock customization that gives us a questline to capture and dominate ghoul & skeleton models, and allows us to customize which appearance we want at either the barber shop, or allow our class trainers to change the models.
Wish I could tell if my post was acknowledged at all. Its early into alpha, so a lot of things like animations and spell effects are still unimplemented. Im hoping(lol) that they take inspiration from this thread. But as you said its been… four years.

Apparently, there was a bug that allowed people who participated in a previous beta to post images indefinitely regardless of their forum activity, which I was likely one of those people. I am not very active on the forums, and I think theres a quota to retain those privileges. No telling if/when Ill be able to post images again.

Death Coil: Death coil’s spell visuals is showing it’s age by this point, like many of the DK’s spell kit. WoW’s had a good influx of Necrotic spell effects and HD skulls added to it in recent years, making them a good base to update death coil.

Blizzard should share some of the affection that warlocks are receiving for the DKs.
We already have plenty of tech, devs, and already in game themes to make every class and spec more special and unic!
