Some of these suggestions might be unpopular but are warranted imho.
UHDK:
I think there should be room for a disease build, a raw damage build and pet builds. However the pet build is far out pacing the former options in throughput.
Commander of the Dead: Needs a large nerf. Being able pop army/timmy and nuke the world is boring and stupid. Should not be rewarded so much for such a brain dead talent.
Unholy Aura: Needs to be reworked. Maybe link it to certain pets or make it linked to an action.
Feasting Strikes: Buff feasting strikes to further modify and increase Festering Strike damage.
Rotten touch: Buff rotten touch.
Bursting Sores: Buff its single target damage again and nerf the cleave damage for the same net AoE throughput.
FDK:
Breath of Sindragosa has been mandatory in a competitive environment for far to long. Since Legion. Obliteration and Legion Icecap/FrostWelp build deserve some attention.
Shattering Strikes: Buff
Might of the Frozen Wastes: Either Straight Buff or add Rime and Remorseless winter modifiers to it as well.
Absolute Zero: Have it also increase the Frost Whelp Damage to Legion levels where you stacked 3 traits. Felt awesome as a mini nuke.
Glacial Advance: Slightly Buff. Needs to work with Ice Cap. Have it replace Frost Strike when chosen.
People should still have the option to Rock BoS and Pet damage playstyles but there should be be more competitive options.

I dont mind some of these, but commander of the dead/unholy aura should not be nerfed (and even if it was overpowered, which it isn’t, you thinking its boring or stupid is certainly not a reason to nerf). our single target would be quite bad without out these. They are a bit boring, but not every talents needs to have some crazy interaction. the minion build nuke gives us great value as a dps in raids. without it, we would bring very little to raid compared to other classes. disease build also outclasses the pet build in raw numbers whenever there is cleave for a decent portion of the fight.

I use the pet build as well as bits of disease build and I am happy with it. It is strong in both single, multi, as well as AOE. Agree that just because your not a fan of pets does not mean aspect of it should be nerfed.
Nothing unholy is as bad as breath for frost. Like most I have never been a fan of breath and the risk and play style is just not fun to me and it’s just sticks that frost is still leaning towards breath. If I ever decide to go back to frost will be picking obliteration 100% of the time.

dont agree with this necromancer stuff for unholy is welcome to me, more the better
make army usable in pvp, lower the cd dramatically and just weaken the ghouls to compensate for more uptime etc
Abomination is usable in rated pvp and army is already usable in reg pvp.
I guess the illusion of choice does not suit me. Commander and BoS are so good why even have talent trees.
I thought the whole point of talents trees were to provide people with new fun ways to play their characters? When one side of the tree provides 10k more dps then there is a problem.
Otherwise. Just go back to the old lame talent tree and call a spade a spade.
I’m trying to decide what I’m laughing at. That you took the time to be “cool” to type “nah” or that Blizz made you quote me so you could say “nah.”
Either way. Stay cool brother.

I would go multiple steps further.
- remove pet scaling from mastery
- remove Army entirely
- remove Commander of the Dead and Unholy Aura
- reduce Gargoyle cooldown to 2 min and buff it by 100% → 2% dmg per RP
- buff the hell into Apocalypse! Give it rune of the apocalypse baseline (doubt that anyone has ever used it anyways) and increase it’s base damage by at VERY least 100%
- finally add a repertoire for different pets for Unholy (melee, range, tank and heal pet)
- shift power back into core skills
→ best achieved by an entire spec overhaul. Unholy’s rotation should be linked to diseases and DoTs.
The general problem I see with Unholy is the double theme of spreading diseases and raising undead minions and the challange to properly balance these aspects.
While we aren’t some physically vulnerable cloth wearing warlocks but plate wearing 2h sword wielding melees, it only makes sense to me that we summon minions to debuff our enemy to take more direct damage from us.
Differently than a physically frail warlock who empowers his demons to deal damage for him.

I’m either really funny or youre really cringe.
Anyways, bad takes gets short responses. Don’t need to feed a dumb idea.
So, nah.

I begin to think the average DK player enjoys dealing sub tank damage outside of cooldowns
I do 40k+ sustain all match, idk.
45-55k damage for me substain in both unholy and frost. Just gotta rotate and line up procs.

Either someone dies in the opener with all CDs up and the match ends quickly, or you’re playing at actual rodent tier MMR where the other team is happy to be 3 target cleaved without spreading. Good DKs playing against good players don’t have 50k overall if the match goes beyond the opener.
Edit: looked at checkpvp, it’s the latter.
This is all before you mention that UH does some degree of negligible pad, it isn’t all the important kind of damage in 3s.

I just play causally. I don’t care about threes or twos. Solo rank que where I do the damage is because most comp in that is Meele. I can keep the substain damage. Plus I know how to juke warriors or rogue for disarm when they see my abomination limb which they think I hit pillar and didn’t.
My gripes are i think Unholy needs some kind of natural refresh of Virulent Plague other then casting Outbreak again or using Unholy Blight. Maybe when you burst a wound, festering strike, or a pet move. Managing the wound burst mingame while speced into Ebon Fever isn’t that fun. Frost on the other hand has Ryme procs that naturally refresh Frost Fever.
Speaking of Frost, I would really like it if Frostscyth was made viable so I could take it for good cleave damage in M+.

Unholy tree needs to be improved so it can ST and do some aoe. Atm we are either full ST or full aoe
I pugged with a rogue today, who “casually” did 89k dps overall. I don’t know your current gear, but I hope you can double your dps soon.
Just saying it wasn’t cheesy AA.
I don’t see why you want to break the DK PvE kit for PvP. I think you are looking at the extremes and over generalizing. Disease Ebon Plague builds are very competitive in PvE even on single target.
Thrse woild make dk worse, for no obvious reason as it wouldnt impact the rotation or cd use.
Ok now I have a bone to pick. This is the umpteenth thread Ive seen where peolle say “dots suck” w/o running morbidity. If you want a decent mythic build youd need morbidity for dot damage. On fort you should be running bursting sores/dot talents, on tyran go pets and either Wound for aoe burst or dots for sustained aoe.
Saying dors are bad while not picking up the first major dot buff in the tree is silly. When I was running a dot build my dots were 35% of my overall at the end of a mythic plus.
Normally you have good ideas bro but fhis isnt one of them. Also coming from an Outlaw main, outlaw has as much to manage as unholy and its far more timing dependant. Udks buffs come up naturally as you use runes and runic. People that cant manage that should be ashamed of themselves because the buffs are tied to the core rotation and require no thought.
