DK tanks will be trash this tier and here's why

  1. Blood DK has the worst traits in the game so while other tanks gear up and scale with nice azerite blood will lag behind.

  2. Blood has zero mitgation. On bosses and anything that melees hard in general blood is one of the worst tanks in the game.

  3. Really bad in PVP. IDK what they did but blood is squishier than both Frost and UH DKs in PVP. Plate is like cloth.

Hmmm…

I doubt it.

The Marrowrend trait increases armor and can proc extra stacks of Bone Shield. Bloody Runeblade or whatever increases Haste and gives us 5 RP everytime our free DnD procs. Heartripper (I think) amplifies our disease on the target making it deal more damage, and we get healed when that for damages.

You know when the heavy hits are coming during boss encounters. If you aren’t actively tanking the Boss you pool your RP so you have it for right after those big hits.

Blood DK’s are fine. We will remain fine throughout this raid tier.

I don’t think OP has Bone Armor on his bar.

Sounds like the Pallys are trying to recruit the damned to their cause. Not quite buying what you are selling. Although if there WERE a class that would pout enough to get the DK’s a nerf, it would be the Paladins.

Blood has always had performance issues related to bad gear, and always were near unkillable once they had the stat they need.

The fact that the traits are bad only means the base spec doesnt need help.

Do yourself a favor and look up Maximumd & Darkeedk on Illidan. They are from Limit. In a nutshell, Limit downed Mekkatorque with x2 Blood DKs. Nice try…Paladin.

AMS is good on that fight. Blood cant tank anything that does high melee damage. Every other guild is using Monks, Warriors or Paladins

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t most of the CE tanks monks and dks right now? I know of a few paladins and warriors but I thought the upper echelon uses dk/monk combos

Blood only requires half of a healer. Thats a powerful advantage for a raid.

Umm…no.

  1. That just means I’m not as concerned as others on what traits I get.
  2. Blood dks have bone shield, which is mitigation. Also a 30% mitigation cd. While, yes, blood relies on healing, it isn’t without some mitigation.
  3. Blizzard nerfed all tanks in pvp…whats your point?

That would be false, I tanked/off tanked fetid last tier.

DKs rely on self sustain to keep themselves going aside from their active mitigation. They have weaker defensive CDs than the Paladin, and can only handle so much incoming damage.

Paladins, while possessing an inferior form of active mitigation and self sustain, have several defensive CDs to choose from. Beyond that, they have LoH, which is a full heal, and two “bubbles”. Those bubbles are capable of cheezing certain mechanics and dropping stacks. Since stacking dots is an extremely popular mechanic, I can see why Limit utilized Prot Paladin for the majority of the fights in that respect. Should anyone in the raid make a severe mistake that affects the tanks directly, the Prot Paladin is going to be the one to handle it vs. BDK and even Monk.

Monks can take a severe beating, but wouldn’t be able to drop stacks as easily. They have little to no self sustain and barely any mitigation CDs but their active mitigation (which isn’t really mitigation but stagger, converts damage into a dot instead) is built into the spec itself, with “brews” to extend or clear their stagger.

All 3 tanks that you’ve mentioned can easily survive even up to mythic, with varying degrees of item level differences. Prot Paladin can forgo needing higher gear due to their CDs. Same with Monk to an extent. B DKs, while they won’t be trash tier this tier, will struggle on certain mechanics until they have proper azerite traits/high item levels to overcome whatever handicap they are currently experiencing, which is actually few, from what I’ve witnessed thus far. They are still an extremely strong tank and will always outperform Guardian Druid & Vengeance Demon Hunter, until Blizzard finally shows those specs some love (which I doubt…)

Oh. Thank you
