DK survivability S4

Don’t forget, We still have many flat nerfs to our entire defensive toolkit and talents, from S1 when about 70% of the DK sustain problems all came from spellwarden, and a somewhat hidden interaction it was having with Will of the Necropolis

You would get a passive spellwarden proc, which would Absorb magic damage equal to a huge portion of HP (20%HP already arguably OP not even mentioning the other effects to keep it simple)

And at 35% HP you would Absorb 35% of the damage you received constantly

The way Deathstrike functions is it restores roughly 10% Health flat, Plus 40% of the damage you receive within 5 seconds previous to it being pressed. Absorbed damage contributes to this intentionally to make abilities like AMS valuable to press as a defensive, But that interaction wasnt designed with the existence of Will of the Necropolis or Spellwarden in mind

What ended up happening is deathstrike was being constantly fed getting massive buffs to its healing from damage the DK was never even receiving in the first place due to all the passive mitigation, While simultaneously being extremely tanky from just the base effects of Will of the Necropolis paired with old Spellwarden

The main issue, Was the passive reductions, And the combined pair of strong passive absorbtion effects Nerfing Spellwarden, and Will of the Necropolis was extremely justified and extremely good for the games health, I will even say that completely PRUNING spellwarden was also a good and healthy choice but that poses the question

If 1 part of the main problem is no longer just nerfed, but completely gone from the talent tree, Why are the modifiers on nearly all of the previously nerfed talents and abilities still in place? Its fair for Will of the necropolis to still be what it is now, But why should Deathstrike still be nerfed?

Why does permafrost have to be so bad, ontop of being poor design by making it from auto attacks, should be just passive shielding up to a % of health and regenerates quicker based off damage dealt

AMS could be a little stronger, And bloodforged armor could last a little longer and be a little stronger

S4 is going to feel bad. Just like S1, S2 and S3. Blizzard doesn’t give a %$^% about FDK in PvP

What about an absorb based on damage dealt through Runic Power spending abilities? Or spending 10 Runic Power heals 1.5%?

we had a talent called conversion that when you had full rp bar and activated it consumed it for a heal. you fight like you were using breath.

for some reason in the beginning they split up ams into what the talent is now

anyway let dps have armor on vet
bring back toughness along with a rank 2
bring back Frigid Dreadplate but when you use frost attacks your armor gets coated in ice increasing your armor and migration
Acclimation when you are hit by a spell you are boosted your resistance to that type of magic by X% stacking 3 times for 30 sec

Remorseless winter could have defensive added where it increases migration while active

bring back that passive where we had a chance to not be cc’d and had a shorter CC duration

It shouldn’t.

Deathstrike is a well designed defensive tool that doesn’t need the modifiers on it. It guzzles RP, so you can’t just spam only that ability every global. You trade a lot of offensive pressure to use deathstrike (especially during pof). It has accessible counters in disarm, evasion, parry, and kiting. And it’s a non passive, reactionary defensive that has a skill element to it.

100% they should remove all the modifiers on DS.

FR. People really gotta learn how DS works, and how to press disarm on something other than PoF lol

Most classes just bubble, Evasion, Blur, Bop, Cloak, Parry during their offensives anyway, and most classes (except fdk XD) have a mortal strike effect now, And dampening got changed ontop of it

No reason DS needs to be held down so hard

part of our survivability issues is that we have no damage either, i did an ashran last night with the unholy dot build and VP fully buffed with EF/PB averaged 8.1k per tick after 6913 ticks last night…against targets with up to 4m HP.

im pretty sure we have the weakest dots in the game. we probably wouldn’t have so many survivability issues if our TTK wasn’t abysmal.

they really just need to remove all negative pvp modifiers from our class entirely. especially with the damage fire mages, MM hunters, and fury warriors can put out its insane they even consider nerfs for us. you would need to buff the damage of every spell in our spellbook by 200-500% to get us to the same level.

its not uncommon to go into a BG, throw a displacer and a DnD, and before i can get two more GCDs in, their team is dead and gone because our mages, warriors, and hunters have deleted them, all of them. meanwhile our damage feels like we might as well be using test dummies, in full burst we don’t even see HP bars move unless the enemy healer is OOM.
