DK or Pally?

Looking to switch from my main evoker and get back to being up close and personal to the fight. I’m on the fence about what to play. I’m debating between maining a DK or Pally next season, and yes I have a ton of experience with both. I do all 3 rolls, except heal M+, it’s too stressful and not fun for me lol, but healing is not a dealbreaker as I don’t main healing. Mostly I main melee dps and tank keys and heal when needed if ever. I know fun is subjective and ultimately the decision is up to me, but which one would you suggest?

pally always the answer.

Death knight. Always Death knight.

It is by far the most fun class I have played.

Also, thematically :metal:METAL

How much utility do you want? Personally I find DPS DK boring but for tanking I prefer Blood over Prot.

IMO, DK. Both classes are very strong thematically and offer some of the best xmog/RP options in the game if you care about that. Paladins are the most popular class by a longshot though and that diminishes the appeal to me because there are just so damn many of them running around. I run a lot of my own keys and within just a few minutes of listing them I always have like 8 Ret Paladins queued up lol.

I will say that Ret is the perfect spec to play if you just want to chill and blast things and not have to worry too much about being suboptimal. I can only speak to Unholy as I don’t play Frost, but Unholy DK can be a punishing and unforgiving class if you mismanage your cooldowns and resources. Ret is relatively “easy” speak in the sense that you aren’t punished as much for not being completely optimal in your gameplay. That said, I’ve recently started playing my DK more and I find it satisfying because of the challenge that it presents.

Paladins have some cool abilities that can make you feel like you saved the day (LoH, BoP, etc.) but DKs have some cool stuff too like grip and AMZ. Grip is amazing for those pesky archers in Priory and other mobs that tend to run away. Both have a brez so that’s a tie there, but Paladins at least have a raid buff (aura).

TL;DR…meh. Play what you want, they’re both cool.

Welcome…please stand and introduce yourself :grinning:

My vote goes to Paladin.

I just think their utility is better. Both are good all rounders, but Pally just feels that bit better to play imho.

Since they’re so thematically similar (in a mirror opposite kind of way) and have some similar utilities, you should go based off of which specific playstyle you are drawn to more. There’s a pretty big difference in how they play, especially when you compare unholy vs. ret or blood vs. prot.

Paladin is much more straight forward across the board. If you’re going to be tanking, BDK is one of the more difficult tank specs to play correctly.

I can’t pick between them so I have a couple of both. I only run 11 delves and lfr, but they’re both too fun to park 1 n just play the other.

Blizzard loves Paladins.

Anything else, no?

Well good luck then.

Ret is like big glowing buttons :red_square: that make slot machine :slot_machine: happy noises  and big procs and lights :rainbow: everywhere and very fast :running_man: many gcds wow :star_struck: very dopamine :pill: also look great :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: nice armour very strong :muscle:

Well let’s compare the two

Paladins are usually strong, easier to pick up and play, the devs love them, great in all forms of content

Vs

DK, they exist, are strong occasionally because the devs don’t pay attention to them and they become good by accident, then are usually nerfed to the ground for their hubris.

Those are two of my favorite classes right now. I have 2 of each at max I’m currently playing.

Right now I’d give the win to the DK because I like the aestetic better than pally.

Can’t go wrong with either one.

Pally is the training-wheels class, especially RET, you can easily survive and do reasonable DPS with little effort, also there are a ton of cool transmogs. Frost DK is very similar to RET Pally (if you play a Obliterate build), but Pally has the edge in ease of play, since most Pally attacks are ranged now.

Lol pally basically has the same range as evoker.

Really, there are too many of both those classes right now.

i mean the answer seems clear. do you want to be arthas??? or do you want to be tirion…?

I would wait to see what the next tier armor looks like and go with whatever is prettiest.
