Class fantasy and stengths/weaknesses seem to be a thing of the past.
No longer does being a tanky spec mean anything. Warlocks are porting and gating all over the place. Warriors have charges and leaps (with a legendary allowing a trolling amount of leeps). Monks and DH’s were created with insane mobility. Classes have longer sprints (aside from Ret) and some even have movement speed baked into a talent (hunters).
Basically since I very much enjoy my death knight. I’m just wondering where our stamina is since it’s the slow immovable object.
Perhaps it’s time to give DK’s some added mobility. Wraith walk is kind of a joke with how clunky it feels and the fact you can’t cast anything without breaking it.
Just venting, as just being in a m+ feels awful when the team is quickly onto the next pack or boss and there I am waddling in the back.
It just feels bad.
Edit: Who in CN has been stuck with the last “dancing spot” in the back of the room. Ultimate tilter. Haven’t raided much this expansion and when that wing released in LFR I got stuck with the last position twice in a row.

Go engineering, get sprint and glider, and you enjoy the mobility.
I have very little complaints after doing so myself on my dk.
Plus in pvp death grip is artificial mobility anyway. Gets you closer to your enemy.

I’ve done fine in cn. Our tanks kept the bosses at near the center, so it wasn’t a huge deal. I do feel it in dungeons, though
I’d say our mobility is fine for our class, but in pvp the trade off isn’t there, atm. We have abilities to slow and bring people to us, but when we get there… nothing. I’m not saying that you can’t do anything, but you’d think the most immobile class in the game would be a bigger threat overall as a trade off compared to just about everyone else (except poor havocs) when they can just go willy nilly with mobility and go ham 24/7.

The trade off is what has me scratching my head. Classes with 5x the mobility and gap closes but with the same amount of defensives and damage.

In non LFR CN you usually have a lock gate to port back row there in time. Running back sucks though, especially as a tank. I believe you can also tank mid room to help that out, but seems like dancing adds would be in the way more often.

Thank goodness my Alliance Dks are Night Fae and Venthyr. I even use Wraith Walk on Venthyr and sometimes the cast time is just far too slow for quickly moving from A to B.
If I were a Necrolord, I’d definitely use Wraith Walk.

I only have one DK and I refuse to give up my slappy hands!
I will never go NF but if venthyr ever gets a buff it might be lookin like a snackkk.
Oh no, I’m not saying you should give up Slappy Hands and switch Covvies.
Nononono. I am just saying that I value mobility variously depending on what covenant I choose. Death Pact also has its niche uses.
If you’re talking about pvp, then I’d understand, however Venthyr is actually the one covenant that’s pretty much the meta over necrolord for both dk dps specs. A buff is the last thing it needs.

Swarming Mist is a very solid ability. Even for Frost that deals Shadow Damage (Well… Somewhat, it synergizes with BoS but not Obliteration). If they change how the RP spending feels, Venthyr would be definitely a winner for sure!
I love it when I can spam Epidemic with it in cluttered environment. I still even use it on single target when I burst with my Timmy on steroids.
Yes PvP at the moment. Gripping has also been a great tool for my team in m+.
Agree though that pve-wise it is good!
I feel like DK mobility is fine for pvp. We have what I like to call ‘reverse speed’. Yes we’re slow, but we have chains of ice, slappy hands, dragon stun, death grip, asphyx if talented. I dont really have trouble sticking on targets. We should, however, be much more tanky if we’re gonna be this slow.
I wouldn’t say tanky, but more so a bigger threat in general concerning offensive power in pvp. Not Wrath levels op, even though i have no reason to not believe that Blizzard design and nerf our class based on that whole thing, but just a genuine threat.

i still miss unholy pres and WoD Death’s Advance such a godly combo
i could keep up with the group and and with the on demand speed boost was awesome. no getting stuck on stuff whatsoever
Death Grip should be useable on friendlies and allows you to be pulled close to that friendly player…similar to warrior intervene. That would give us more mobility. But yeah, Rocket Boots are nice but the CD is fairly long.

I wish wraith walk was baseline. At least then we could grip of the dead and wraith. In general I’d say the lack of mobility affects us the most as blood in m+. Our kiting ability is terrible and on Necrotic weeks, kiting is essential.
Other than that, raiding has been fine and pvp has been fine.
death advance is kinda OP actually and to be fair i have more mobility problems with my warrior than with my dk prob a L2P issue but still
there are so many encounters that death advance has made my life as a dps so easy specialy artificer, denatrius, etc
2k rating is a l2p issue.
Not saying deaths advance isn’t great. It is. It’s not like some huge sprint boost, just a slight increase and speed but the ability to not get rooted is nice.
I love when a simple discussion turns into some fellow low rated player talking about l2p LOL

Eh, doesn’t bother me a lot. I main Blood so I went for Venthyr so Door of Shadows helps a lot also.
Between DA/DoS and mounting up i feel plenty fast in dungeons.
In raid WW is a great move speed boost. I honestly like WW, it’s essentially the equivalent of the pally horse I do wish we didn’t need a talent for it though.
To be honest since the awc and buffs, I feel like not being tanky is just fine. Everyone is just running from frost dk’s now with the expectation of getting clapped from chill streak lol
