I leveled this character to 120 in unholy and the only reason I’ve died was cause I wasn’t paying attention. Now I’m curious about the other dps spec, I’m sure once I learn the rotation I can fully test it against unholy. I wanted to ask people who have been dk’s longer if it’s worth the effort to try? I’m new to the dk class and only ever played a gnome hunter but as a hunter I only ever met blood tank dks with a few unholy. Any input is welcome
Frost is really pretty straight forward to learn. I think your biggest issue will be getting weapons for it since it’s DW and Blood/UH both use 2H weapons.
Personally, I enjoy it more but I know plenty of people aren’t fans (in general or of DW Frost). I’m not sure how it ranks for serious content goes but it’s good enough that you won’t struggle with most stuff. It’s definitely a different playstyle though so I’d say it’s worth at least checking out.
Cap your conquest for a 440 weapon and do 5 timewalker WoD dungeons you get a 445 weapon at the end. Boom, 2 weapons.

Test it. I like frost a lot better when it comes to play style. I’ve seen unholy do crazy damage, I’ve seen frost do crazy damage.
My DK is purely frost atm, and he feels like a god in most situations–PvP and PvE. I can solo every single Vale/Uldum elite…as frost…the ones with over 11million health.
That said, my DH is doing bursts of 50k single target (for w/e reason since this patch) and rapidly killing targets. My DK, on the other hand, is only doing a steady 35k at the same item level. With burst (mainly Chill Streak), I can easily match my DH’s numbers…but I am not killing mobs in 2 seconds.
Also, they are very easy to do visions with. TBH, I imagine most of the positives of frost apply to both other DK specs. I just really enjoy this one…and see a lot of people talking about frost as if it isn’t amazing. Which it is.
It’s no weapon guarantee for the timewalking event but worth a shot!
You can alternatively buy a timewarped sword if you don’t get lucky.

Frost and Unholy have been close enough in both playrate and throughput most of the expansion you can literally pick whichever one you like more and no one will really care.
Well after testing frost for awhile and learning the rotation I found that I like the frost spec more. Just seems like there’s more going on and of course bring one handed the damage is faster. The only minor thing is I miss having my ghoul following around and so to fix this I’m going to go find Stinkrot the battle pet
