Dk covenant abilities

Not sure if a topic was posted or not yet but here they are … thoughts?

Death’s Due - Night Fae
Instant, 30 yard range, 45-second cooldown
The targeted ground begins to wilt, dealing 14,250 Nature damage over 10 seconds to targets within the area. Drain power from each enemy within the area, reducing their damage done by 10 percent and increasing your strength by 80 for 10 seconds.

Shackle the Unworthy - Kyrian
Instant, 30-yard range, 1-minute cooldown
Admonish your target for their past transgressions, reducing the damage they deal to you by 5 percent and dealing 1,678 Arcane damage over 14 seconds. Shackle the Unworthy’s cooldown is reduced by 4 seconds when you damage the affected enemy with a Rune-spending attack.

Swarming Mist - Venthyr
Instant, 1-minute cooldown
A heavy mist surrounds you for 8 seconds, increasing your Avoidance by 311. Deals 136 Shadow damage every 1 second to enemies within 10 yards. For each enemy damaged, you gain 3 Runic power.

Abomination Limb - Necrolord
Instant, 1.5-minute cooldown
Sprout an additional limb for 8 seconds, dealing 4,900 Shadow damage every 2 seconds to the nearest enemy. If the enemy is farther than five yards from you, they are pulled to your location.

i really doubt people gonna want to go with their “DEATH KNIGHT” to the kyrian or night fae zone, with that said, swarming mist looks like it has the potential to be a good defensive agaisnt melee i guess the intention its to give good rune power generation when you fight many mobs, Abomination Limb it seems more versatile i dont know if the damage is good althought its way better than swarming and it can be used as a second claw and thats sounds awesome

I really like the Limb as well. The secondary pull effect would be great in pvp. Swarming mist with breath could be insane.
The only problem I really have, which is a shadowlands problem, is one is obviously going to be BIS for the role. Coming from a pvp perspective, it will be hard to choose with these skills plus the movement skills with each as well

Uh all four work for my DK actually and I’m making him a Pandaren on top of that.

Thankfully the skill I had my eye on isn’t in basic and boring Necrolords. The amount of people who just do things to follow the crowd are painfully boring.

i dont see it this way…in my case i want necrolords, the land that reminds me of plaguelands, that awesome design, the zone armor, the theme, the fact that im a dk, most thing lead me to want to go there as a dk… i would never go a night fae with a dk, its just doesnt make sense to me, it doesnt fit in my fantasy

Mist and Limb are both very interesting, hard to decide, cant wait for panda dks

I wonder if those damage values will change a lot, because based on that the kyrian and venthyr abilities barely do any damage so most likely they could be there for their additional effect rather than damage unlike abomination limb though limb has damage and a secondary effect

I look forward to getting a grabby hand that slaps people.

Well I do.

You going there is fine. Everyone has a choice to make. I just think it’s extremely basic to go to a covenant purely because it fits your class. It’s unoriginal.

I just find it strange that 3/4 of the abilities are damage/defensive, meanwhile abomination limb is damage/utility.

Even so it’ll be fun to do some pvp and watch some noobie waste all their mobilities trying to escape my grabby hand.

Insinuating people that choose necrolords are just following what someone tells them? That is one of my top choices based on the description of the ability. Nothing else, because I’m not researching the entire expansion before it comes out this time. All I know is the little bits of info I get on the forums. Other than that, I want to think about choices as they arise, not a year before the info is needed.

I do like the mist ability, mostly because it reminds me of the old ability we used to have that was a basic, damage only version of this.

i guess i can agree, depending on the class im using my mind roll play differently…
my paladin will probably go to the land of the vampires - Venthyr which for most people will not make sense

Yeah though I wonder if it is going to do any actual damage because based on those numbers unless it is a typo, the only thing it does is break soft CC.
I hope they make the damage actually useful otherwise it feels more like an aoe runic power generator than aoe damage.

Based on the lore we have covenants are more about you as a person rather than your class, though people who let their class/racial/cultural/whatever identity control them would most likely go for the boring choice.

Venthyr are the most interesting lore wise considering it is said to be a place where prideful people go to be punished ;^) ;^) and repent etc but that system apparently has failed to break many prideful souls which has lead to the prideful souls taking over the realm and just having fun apparently, honestly cant wait for more info

What fo you mean? I do.

So I did see this and it instantly scared me to be honest as you can see very quickly that for a certain DK Spec one power is significantly better than another. This by nature is forcing players to have to go a specific covenant route if they don’t they will be significantly worse than another who did.

Let me explain it

The Night Fae one is the interesting one and hard to pick but it is actually a good DPS option for Blood DK as they Lack the AoE burst of some other classes in M+. This gives them a great AoE initial drop that overlaps with Death and Decay but slightly higher cooldown means it will be up in between DnD drops excluding Crimson Procs

I don’t honestly see why a DK of any spec would consider this a good ability compared to other class abilities under Kyrian this is laughable even considering you might get it down to 46 seconds or 42 seconds for cooldown with the second reduction element it’s still just does nothing good.

This actually looks to be one of the best options a Frost DK could consider Why? Simple Breath of Singragosa…. This one ability generates you HUGE amounts of Runepower so you can use this around 1/2 way through Breath to net you a large amount of Self Sustaining RP that adds Additional Damage to the targets of Breath as Well… My guess this is likely to make the old 1+ Min Continuous breaths possible for FDK

This is the one that logically would be good for Unholy it is essentially an active ability that is doing the Old Abomination Grapple Hook mechanism for another Grip mechanism the great thing here is that it’s technically passive when activated so each time the enemy gets 5 yards away they are pulled back but only for 8 seconds. This is great for things like Necrotic Strike Stacking as for 8 sec they are always in range essentially or Laughing at Mages trying to Blink Away etc.

This is obviously my assumptions but it does appear to be designed for Spec’s to be oriented towards a given covenant. So if you wanted the Vampire Gothic Armor look then consider playing Frost DK now etc.
