Sorry for more noob stuff here. I’ve never played with any add ons in an mmo before, and I was wanting to try some out. What are some of the good ones for DK’s to use? I’d love if there was one that made runes and runic energy more prominent/visible during combat.
You’re in luck! There are a few add-ons for that. “Compact Runes” is the one i use. Its light weight on the memory and you can customize it.
Id also recommend some sort of nameplate add-on to help you visualize and keep track of your DoTs on enemies. “Tidy Plates” or the built-in nameplates of “ElvUI” is good for that.
Lot’s of DKs (well many other players too) also use “Weak Auras” to help them keep track of their cool downs and other stuff.
If you are planning on raiding or mythic dungeons, it’s almost required that all the players use “Deadly Boss Mods.”
There’s many other quality of life add-ons as well. Id recommend a good damage meter like “Details” or “Skada.” Damage meters will show you where your damage stands compared to others in your groups. Plus it’s good for training and knowing what abilities are your best.
If you need extra action bars, use “Bartender4” or UI add-ons like “ElvUI”
Lastly, to become a true DK, get “Sexy Map” and use the runic border for your minimap.

Thanks, lots of good info there. Is there a specific website I should go to for safe downloads? I imagine add ons are a great back door into your account.
if i buy one do i get one for free?
get the twitch app is what most people use. it used to be the curse app where all the wow addon are. buts its still the same thing with a new name. just ignore all the live steaming stuff

Basically what Topbard said. Use the Twitch Desktop App. Every add-on i just listed (except for ElvUI) is downloaded via that program.

Yes all add-ons for WoW are safe to download through the Twitch app.
Also, might I suggest trying elvui!
It’s EXTREMELY user friendly. One of my fav YouTubers actually has a video. On how to install this, he also has put all his own work into making the UI.
Literally everything you could ever want and need is already set up by him. Basically just set it and forget it. No matter what class or spec you’re ever on he has it allllll set up perfectly.
you can use weakauras for runes as well.
